About

Amy Millan began her career as a solo performer and eventually in a band setting in Montreal and Toronto. This would eventually lead to her becoming heavily involved in the band she is most known for, Stars. From 2001 on, Amy would become an increasingly influential part in the bands sound, especially in regards to the duets that herself and Torquil Campbell would perform and a style that the band is best known for. Additionally, Amy has also become part of the Broken Social Scene family, and performed and recorded with the group of artists as well. In 2006 Amy would release her debut solo album, Honey from the Tombs, which consisted largely of songs that she wrote in her earlier days. In contrast to her work with Stars, Millan's solo work is strongly influenced by country and folk music. Thematically, many of the songs deal with loss and loneliness, and taking solace in alcohol is sung about numerous times. Now in 2009, Amy is set to release her sophomore effort, Masters of the Burial and is about to hit the road again to engage listeners with her style of twang and lush vocals that is sure to please music lovers no matter the genre.

Supporting Amy as well will be Bahamas, whose real name is Afie Jurvanen, who is about to release his debut album Pink Strat. Many of these songs were saved up from a period of a number of years while touring as part of Jason Collett's band, and then Feist's band. The elegance of Bahamas' songs are sure to win you over, as the lyrics and harmonies will entrench themselves into your being, and make Bahamas someone to keep your eyes and ears upon.
