BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

AZ, born Anthony Cruz, made his rap debut as a featured artist on Nas’ 1994 smash-hit record Illmatic before breaking out with his own successful album Doe Or Die a year later. The release mas a massive success, peaking at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and producing three gold-certified Top 40 singles. After spending time collaborating in the hip hip group the Firm, AZ and crew released their 1997 self-titled album and followed it up with extensive touring. Since returning to his solo career in 1998 AZ has released seven more albums and received a Grammy nomination alongside Nas for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. With his narrative lyrics and smooth, rhythmic flows, AZ is a legendary performer who treats fans to timeless material and animated live performances every time he takes the stage.
