    Detroit Hoedown 2012

by JustAndie on 6/12/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

...and does WYCD think it's fun to STAND for 6 - 8 hours? Why couldn't temporary bleachers be set up - say from the sound board on back - in the main stage parking lot for folks who can't be on their feet for that long. Sitting on asphalt is not my idea of seating arrangements. What would be the problem to bring in chairs or blankets like the ones that are ok to use at DTE? ...and sitting inside Comerica Park to stare at an empty ballfield was not my idea of seating availability. You couldn't see or hear the main stage from there. At least hart Plaza had the graduated cement steps.

Comerica Park set up was much better & controlled

by FinancialConsultant on 6/12/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

This event had the best lineup yet! Every act was fabulous. The vendors were laid out properly and everything was very accessable. Shirt area was close up and manageable. Sunday night the shirt area was cut in half for VIP's and nobody could get in. Last years event the shirt area was 4 times as large and there was seating. We felt jipped about Sunday which was the best line up.

    Miranda does Detroit proud!

by Nici9 on 6/12/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

First and most important, I am SO thankful that they finally started charging for this event. It was nice to be amoung people who were truly there for country music and a peaceful good time. There was no overcrowding or fear of being pushed to the ground and trampled like in the most recent years at Hart Plaza. HUGE win for 99.5 and the Hoedown, thank you! Best part of the entire weekend was Miranda Lambert on Sunday night. I saw her show in Saginaw earlier this year and was still blown away Sunday night. So glad that I went to see her again and I'd do it all over given the chance. Dierks, wow! After having a horrible week he still managed to have one hell of a show as he always does in Detroit. All in all, great shows and great weekend.

    Hoedown

by DebR54 on 6/12/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

The Hoedown was a disappointment this year, don't get me wrong the concerts were great but I upgraded and bought the $100 VIP passes for both Sat. and Sun., talk about a disappointment and waste of money....there was absolutely no "VIP" involved and that whole part was poorly ran both nights. I had to fight to hold my spot that I paid $100 for with people who went and picked up an orange t-shirt and was in the same area as my VIP pass

    Disappointed

by NAB8 on 6/12/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

Asphalt intensifies the heat and reflects the sun up. Causing sunburn, sunstroke, heatstroke and doubles liqour effects. Too much of a carnival atmosphere. How much money does Illitch need??? $3 for half a slice of pizza, $10 for a beer? We used to get a room and stay for the weekend, why bother now? You can't leave. So instead of 3 days, we went for 6 hours. Why not use a hand stamp so people can go out and come back in? If they are going to continue to have it at Comerica, move it back to May so the heat doesn't kill. Although sitting inside the field was a relief, more shade areas are needed scattered throughout the grounds. Benches would of been a treat, so that one could sit down outside. Instead, everyone fought to sit on the little bit of grass under a row of trees.

    Dierks was amazing!

by countryfan256 on 6/12/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

I loved the new venue and the line up was top notch. We have skipped the Hoedown the past few years because of the over crowding and the riff raff that ruin a good event. We will be back

    Detroit Hoedown around Comerica Park

by bigmanpete55 on 6/11/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

The artists were great and I loved that Kid Rock showed up on stage with Miranda Lambert. Beer was so expensive it just did not make sense to buy it. Water was at a good price especially since it was in the High 80's all three days. Trash was a major issue and it was every where which would make you think that they would have more trash cans and people to clear it out. Security was good but very unprofessional with customers and were rude or disrespectful when asking simple questions. 99.5 employees were rude too...especially if you called the stations to find out information about the concerts. You could not get a straight answer and then if you gave them your opinion they just laughed in your face about it. Website was not set up very well and they did not have any maps for people to print off or pick up upon entering. Sound quality was lacking too...if you were in the back you could not hear very well and if you were in the front you felt like you were suffocating. They need more speakers surrounding the main stage for better quality. If they want to do this again I recommend doing this somewhere else, lower prices, being better organized, more professional staff and trying to make the concert area a little more sanitary. BIGGEST COMPLAINT: NO RE-ENTRY - I found this to be disappointing and the fact that the concerts started at 2:00 PM, went 11:00 PM, and you could not leave and come back was ridiculous. This was just a sign that the production company, all the vendors and 99.5 want to just make money and did not care about the customers. I have been to a lot of events outside set up the same throughout my life both as part of the staff/crew and going as a fan and never had to worry about NO RE-ENTRY. This was just really disrespectful to the consumer and really made this event in a lot of ways not worth going again. If they do not want Re-Entry into the concert next year then just have it in Comerica Park. This was probably one of the worst events I have been to and most likely will not be back unless some major changes occur.

    hot hoedown ends with bang?

by disapointment125 on 6/11/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

So this was the first year the hoedown was at comerica. The aritist line up was good. I honestly think the second night was the best. There should really be more advertisement about the need for vip passes for the front row for sundays headliner. Not really happy that i couldn't get to the front even in the orange shirt.

    Downtown Hoedown 2012

by AmatoBella on 6/11/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

The hoedown was definitely better at Comerica! More space and better viewing. My only complaint is that there was way too much Marijuana. Security did a bad job. They only checked bags, and barely at that. All they did was have you open it and look in the main pockets.

    The acts were great!

by Harleexl on 6/11/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

Start with the good: love the lineup, and plenty of space. Having to pay for tickets kept out some riffraff. The bad: there was nowhere to sit down and rest, nothing to drink except Budweiser, soda, or lemonade. Need another vendor such as Mike's or Smirnoff.

The Hoedown was better than ever!!!

by Anonymous on 6/11/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

This year's Hoedown was AMAZING!! I wish they would have charged for entry years ago. It made such a difference in the experience because the crowd mostly consisted of dedicated country fans and people who genuinely wanted to be there. The only thing I would have changed was the amount of interaction Dodge had with the attendees. I felt like this was a great opportunity to create some Ram Truck brand advocates. Way to go WYCD you're going to have a hard time topping this one!

    Needs improvement

by AlanAble on 6/11/12Comerica Park Parking Lot - Detroit

I took my date, who loves country music, I thought $50 for 2 tix was reasonable. Found parking for $10, annoying, but normal. It was hot sunny, and I find beer for $8-$10 a pop, now I'm getting fed up. We arrived at 5;30PM, main acts start at 9PM. Now, with no re entry, we're stuck walking around parking lots, or inside Comerica Park for 5 hours. If we drank one beer/ hour it would set us back another $60, and we haven't even begun to eat. (carnival food being the main offering). We decided to cut our losses and get some real food and drink for far less than it would have cost to stay. If there were grassy areas to spread out and enjoy the music, it would have been OK. Otherwise, either I won't go again, or I'll tailgate somewhere, bring my own food/drink, and go in for main acts only.
