    Hoedown

by Mickey1988 on 6/12/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

The new venue for the Hoedown was fantastic! Lots of space to wonder around. Nice cool breeze being right on the river. The sound was awesome too. I do have a recommendation though. The location of the porta potties were far far away from the main stage. How about breaking those up a bit? Maybe 3 different locations? We also really appreciated there being a line up of Taxi cabs when we exited too. This was our 4th year in a row to the Hoedown and we will be back next year!!

    Great night with Darius Rucker

by wdbinwixom on 6/11/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

We watched three acts: the Brothers Osborne, Brett Eldredge and Darius Rucker. It was a great party atmosphere.

The park was great. The Local stage was a major disappointment. I felt bad for the performers, they couldn't get very many people under the tiny tent to see them play.

    First But Not Final

by NJNick06 on 6/10/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

This concert was filled with so many amazing artist. It was my first hoedown, but it won't be my last. I love that everyone was presented the opportunity to be in the Party Pit and get a free shirt along with it. I love that they were ahead of schedule both days. I love that it wasn't as chaotic as I anticipated. The location on the riverfront was spacious, and had surprising convenient parking. Rascal Flatts was surreal. Watching them live was like living in a dream. But, Brett Eldredge, OMG! I'd follow that man around the world to hear him sing to me. He sounded as flawlwess live as he does on records. And that raspy tone of his just makes me quiver from the inside out. The only things I didn't like were settling for an elephant ear when I wanted a funnel cake, the rain and mud on day one, and the handful of rude people who pushed their way to the front after devoted audience members had been holding down those spots for hours. I also wish I'd known which artists were coming out for meet and greet. Maybe next time, Brett. Overall, super fun and successful. I hope next year is just as jam packed with talent.

I went on Saturday and it turned out to be a beautiful day! I've been going to the Hoedown since for years back when it was still at Hart Plaza. This has by far been the best location and I hope to see you continue having it there!

    Not fun

by Amber1963 on 6/9/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

My daughter and I were looking so forward to seeing our favorite band of all time again Rascal Flatts. Thank goodness we didn't go earlier than what we did. We got there around 5pm. Mainly wanted to see Eli Young Band and Rascal Flatts. Both bands were good. Especially Rascal Flatts, but all the drunk people around us ruined it for us both. I can't believe there wasn't a cut off on how many beers someone can buy. I was embarassed how rude and downright nasty people can be when they have drank way too much. My daughter is 17 and was very upset over the actions of these people. Why do people even go to a concert when they just get down right drunk and I am sure don't remember much of the concert anyway. Doesn't make any sense to me. We will not attend another concert like that again. Not worth the time or money to be pushed around by drunks!! Very disappointed.

    hoe down 2015

by DDoon on 6/9/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

If chairs had been allowed, I believe it would have been a more friendly event. There 's no reason folding chairs could not have been brought in unless it would have taken more time to inspect at check in. Having said that, while you can't be responsible for who buys tickets to this event, the majority were young drunks who had no respect for social grace, which is why chairs were prohibited.

    It's okay

by Ozojinn on 6/8/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

I've been attending Hoedown for the past few years now. Quite frankly, ever since the event has required people to pay for tickets it's gone down hill. It used to be 3 days of amazing bands, this year was two. Hart plaza is nice, has nice stage separation and if it rained, it didn't get mucky. This year it was an open field that I thought was too big and due to the weather was very mucky and wet no matter how much hay was thrown down. It also seems like the crowd just doesn't have as much fun at Hoedown as they used to, I know I don't...

    HoeDown 2015

by Janut56 on 6/8/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

Liked the Venue, HORRIBLE, horrible porta potties. Overflowing by Saturday afternoon. No toilet paper by Friday evening. Bands were terrific! Couldn't help the weather on Friday, but all and all, we had fun! Might want to consider building a "hill" similar to DTE. Food was not good, but we've given up on anything other than "carnival" food. Better choices of beers. Always a nice breeze blowing off the River. Other than the bathrooms this year, you have to figure out a way for us fans to go in and out of the venue. The last 3 years, we eat at other restaurants, spend money other places and most important, we don't get to see the bands earlier in the day because we will NOT stand for 8-10 hours. You really need to figure something out. We all missed an opportunity to see new talent! It's not rocket science, folks.

    Amazing Show

by trpkob on 6/8/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

The Downtown Hoedown was great and the wide variety of artists was great! Highly recommend doing the RAM experience for Party Pit wristbands and shirts which gets you in the front.

Should have had better access to cabs. Allowed them to line up outside instead of having the whole street shut down. Bands and set up was nice being on the river. Should be three days instead of two and bigger acts if charging so much too.

Friday Night at the Downtown Hoedown

by BeetleB001 on 6/8/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

The entertainment was top notch and the event was very well organized. Kudos to the sponsors and organizers. The only thing I want to mention is that if you go to this event in the future, you need to remember that it is more of a mad party than a concert event. The crowd noise was way out of hand and the crowd was pretty much into rough partying and not paying attention to the entertainment. For much of the time people were so loud that you could not really heard the band playing and we were not that far from the stage.

    Friday only tix. Constructive criticism.

by Ton3 on 6/8/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

As I said, constructive criticism. Reviews are supposed to help future plans. Please take my straightforwardness as such. =) I'd like to EXPLICITLY state that NOTHING below (with the exception of ticket price vs lineup) would deter me from seeing that show again! So: Ticket price vs lineup. At least Friday, great preformances all around! I'd pay to see that show over and over (see individual reviews below). 32 dollar tickets are okay with me. However, when you tack on 20 dollars in fees, it's NOT okay EVER. There needs to be a flat rate. Be straight forward with people. This single thing kept ALL but 1 of my 'country concert goer friends' from coming. Had there been, and/or it becomes, a lesser lineup and higher prices, you can count on myself and many others to be in that same boat. Don't milk the cow dry! The whole "grass under your feet" thing was the 'hot commodity' and it completely backfired. Lol Just saying, I feel like they over exemplified the fact, when weather is such an uncertainty. Personally, I don't mind mud, but I could see it made some people miserable. The 'less downtime' thing worked very well. Last year we sat around alot waiting for performances. However, you do need SOME downtime. People need SOME time to go to the bathroom, eat, get drinks, etc. I really disliked the Porta potties and Food being all the way in back. I understand the grocery store effect. It forces people to walk the venue more, check everything out, but it was a little much. The RAM experience ran 50x more smooth than last year!!! Pass it along, as they did very well. The venue, overall, was better than I expected (other than the topological/soil fertility issues) The view was pleasant and the size was PERFECT. Though I was jealous, the premium seating is a good idea. Perfect amount of premium seating without pushing everyone else back. Don't change this. The show itself was absolutely AMAZING!!! A Thousand Horses performed well, I was really impressed. On the second stage Austin Webb, did good. Locally, Two Timing Band was off the charts. They were much more in sync and fluid than the others. Brothers Osborne, just great artists ; period Brett Eldredge was very good, per usual. Darius did a good job engaging all democraphics by playing older and newer music of his, and covers. I had a blast. I hope to have a similar experience next year.

    NEW VENUE

by lomllover on 6/8/15West Riverfront Park - Detroit

I attended the Hoedown on both Friday and Saturday nights. I was NOT impressed with the venue. The stage looked great, but flat land and rain do not mix. The hay was barely helpful. I don't understand how I had numbers on my tickets for General Admission also. I would have liked being up front but I was with 3 girls who do not drive so there was no sense in doing the challenge. Also, Darius Rucker was GREAT!!!! The crowd was AWFUL! Rude and barley clapping for performances. On Saturday, the crowd was much improved. The venue still needs improvement. I don't think having the bathrooms and food and beverage at the far end near the entrance is the best layout either. Also, regarding parking, I was happy in the lot next to Joe Louis, but the walk through the beggers was something I could have done without.
