3 Great Bands!
by Debsabfab on 9/29/13Ak-Chin Pavilion - PhoenixWe weren't there for the entire event, and we just saw the last 3 bands - Halestorm, Volbeat and Avenged Sevenfold. They were all fantastic. Halestorm really put on a great show - Lzzy sounded great live and really knows how to put on a show. I liked them before, but seeing them live officially made me a fan! I would go see just them, not just as part of a bigger lineup. I already loved Volbeat, and was not disappointed by them live. At first, the energy seemed a little low - I think a lot of the concert-goers weren't really familiar with them. Once they played more recognizable songs, the crowd's energy picked up, and so did Volbeat's. They didn't play my absolute favorite song, Fallen, but I don't think that song really fits in with the overall feel of Desert Uprising. Finally, Avenged Sevenfold took the stage...and they were amazing as always! My husband, who isn't as big of a fan of theirs as I am, had never seen them and I have been telling him for a while now that he should. He turned to me after the first song and said "you were right". They are one of the best live bands out there right now - they sound great, have great energy and M. Shadows is a top-notch frontman. They played songs from all over their extensive discography and got the crowd involved. I would see them every time they are in town, which isn't often enough. The only slightly disappointing part was because it was an all-day festival and the show had to be finished by 11:00 due to the noise ordinance, they could not play as long as I would have liked.
