It was cheap and you got what u paid for

by Ariot on 3/12/13Hyde Park Village - TAMPA

The event would have been great, had not the cups broke over and over. The lines were very long. The food ran out early or was busy getting more. And if you thought the beer and food lines were bad, the lines for the facilities were worse by far.

Absolutely horrible...to pay 30 bucks and wait in really long lines with a tiny shot glass sized cup and get your little cup filled only half way and get right back in line again all night, is not my idea of a good time.

    The beers were amazing.

I highly recommend the Kona KoKo Brown. The lines were a little long but moved fast enough that I was just finishing my beer by the time I was up for a new one. The music was great as well. What's not to like about "free" beer and live music. Weather was perfect. We are going again if they have another. It's only too bad that there is only one of these per year.

The event was oversold and not enough vendors. There were way too may tickets sold to that event. I get they want to make/raise money but it was not a good over all experience. There should have been more food vendors! The live band was good and a must have for the event.

Fun event with amazing music. There was a really good reggae rock band. We were able to try quite a few beers that we have never tried before. The "local restaurants" consisted of an inch piece of pita, a couple pieces of chicken and a very small piece of pizza. I was expecting a little bit more variety. There were long lines but all of them went very fast, besides the bathroom line. At a drinking event like that, there should definitely be more bathrooms.

Spent more time in line than enjoying the beer. Make the lines shorter, and the beer samples larger.

    Missed the mark

by TBone0914 on 3/11/13Hyde Park Village - TAMPA

This was our first year going to the 97x event. We have traveled all over the country and have gone to multiple beer and food fests. This unfortunately, by far was the most disappointing. Alrhough there was an ample amount of beer vendors, the beer cups were VERY small, which didn't help that the lines were ridiculously long. Where was the food? Hyde Park and South Tampa has plenty of resturaunts that could have easily participated and didnt. It had a very unorganized feel to the entire event. I went with a group of people and sadly, they all had the same response. This will prob be my last 97x event, unless I hear they have revamped and upgraded their events.

I thought the overall selection of beers was great. I think there should be more food vendors and more places to use the restroom. The time and location were perfect. I liked how last year you had a lanyard that got punched to help keep track of what tents you had already visited.

    Terrible beer fest!!!

by Kja747 on 3/11/13Hyde Park Village - TAMPA

Will not be attending this event if they ever do it again (highly doubtful). Nothing like spending thirty dollars to be handed a Dixie Cup and then to have to wait in a ten minute line to get a drop of beer. Oh and there's the food, they should have just left that part off of the details. Very small selection and all the food ran out before the first hour. Terrible experience! The only positive part was that a percentage of the profit went to charity (albeit probably a small percentage).
