About

311 in Concert

311 defined the 90s with a style that many bands would come to embrace – folding rap into more traditional forms like alternative rock and reggae. Their early 90s' hits "Down" and "All Mixed Up," tracks that carried their self-titled album to the No. 12 spot on The Billboard 200, introduced the world to an original sound that remains popular today. "Over the past few years, we've realized we're primarily a live band...and we're damn glad for that," said lead singer, Nick Hexum. Their fan base, dubbed the "The Hive", agree because every 311 concert is an intense, trippy and emotional ride. 311's most recent album Universal Pulse reached No. 1 on Billboard's Tastemaker Albums and Independent Albums charts.

With foresight and two decades of solid hits, 311 has turned the police code for streaking in Nebraska into an instantly recognized symbol for the meeting of ska, rap metal and jazz fusion. The band began in Omaha, Nebraska with Nick Hexum, Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton, P-Nut and SA Martinez. The band went through several independent releases before signing with Capricorn Records in 1992. Their last album, in 2011, Universal Pulse, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200. Since the introduction of their first album Music in 1993, 311 has released Grassroots, 311, Transistor, Soundsystem, From Chaos, Evolver, Don't Tread on Me, Uplifter and Universal Pulse. On every even-numbered year since 2000, the date 3/11 has meant the 3-11 Day Concert, when the band performs an extremely extended set. Fans who bought tickets to 3-11 Day in 2012 saw the band perform 79 songs over two days in Las Vegas. If you're looking for their 2014 album, it will be out on — you guessed it — March 11.

In the summer of 2019, 311 is touring with Dirty Heads for what they said will be a hybrid of "alternative sound and good vibes." The U.S. tour runs July 2-Aug. 20. They will be joined by pop trios Dreamers and Bikini Trill for all shows, with special guest performances by The Interrupters on all but six dates.

This was the first time I have attended a concert at Lakewood amp. 311 with Ziggy Marley and The Expendables was great. Music was perfect with no mistakes. People would hold up there lighters during some songs. Just a great overall performance. I will sure be attending more concerts in the future !!!

I've been to Lakewood a bunch of times, but I'd never seen 311, Ziggy, or the Expendables and they were all awesome!!! It was just such a great atmosphere and they all put on a great show.

    Awesome show

by Quantumleap67 on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Being from southern California, it was nice to see a taste of California come to Atlanta...longtime fan of 311 and Ziggy Marley (and his late father as well), the band Expendables were a great band outta Santa Cruz with a 311 style sound. Sound quality was great, and the seating was really good, no bad seat in the house. Ziggy, in my opinion, is the only one of his late father, Bob Marley's sons, that carries on his music and message the way he did, and for a minute there, could actually SEE his father singing! Well done Ziggy! Now for 311, what else can I say? They brought the house down, with a great mix of old and new tunes, with their mix of rock, rap and reggae which has always sounded original and now emulated by many new bands out there. Great job!

    Good but disapointing

by navySEAL123 on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

They did not play any classics..new songs are good but needed more older classics! For example, Transistor and Who's Got the Herb.

    311 was forgettable

by KDizzle on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

It was okay but i really did not think that it was anything special. The Expendables were pretty good though. In my opinion they were the best performance of the night.

    311 was decent

by JohnnyMemphis on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

This show was pretty good, but far too short. 311 didn't play enough of their old songs, and the show ended with fireworks, but they should have played an encore after the fireworks, or played something during them instead of a recording of classical music. A good show in general, but a bad show for 311.

    MORE EXPENDABLES

by purepolygon on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

Over all the show was good. The biggest disappointment is that The Expendables were only on for 30 min. I felt very shortchanged. Ziggy puts on a good show and gets people into it. 311 was good when they played their older songs. Their new music is good if your still in high school i suppose, but i only enjoyed their previous albums. They ended the show very well.

311 at Aaron's Amphitheatre was the best place to be to ring in the 4th of July! The band was great, the crowd made it even better, and the fireworks at the end of the show were awesome.

    311 did a good job.

by BlackieTarface on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

I have seen them do better performances, however, this was a still a very rocking show. I am actually happy they played quite a bit of new material from "Uplifter". Having said that, I wish they would played older, non-single, songs from other albums. It seems the guys aren't as energetic as they have been years passed, but everyone can have off days, no? Bottom line, I will see them again! The venue itself, Lakewood (Aaron's) ampitheatre is quite annoying. Especially the parking. Consider it nearly impossible leaving the venue in less than half an hour after the show is over.

    I love 311!

by Kara on 7/5/09Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood - Atlanta

This show was around my 7th show and it was amazing! It didn't hurt that it was on the 4th of July. They did an awesome fireworks show at the end to celebrate which made it even better. Nick Hexum couldn't be any hotter! They had an awesome mix of old and new songs and a kick ass mix of of songs at the end. 311, my husband and I love u!
