2PM was born out of the Korean idol industry, a highly competitive system in which talent agencies train and groom potential stars to vie for membership in mass-marketed pop groups. The group's initial incarnation was formed through a highly competitive televised auditions process that whittled potential candidates down to an eleven-member group called One Day. Shortly after its formation the group split into two smaller acts -- 2PM and 2AM -- with both groups going on to attain considerable commercial success. 2PM scored their first hit in 2008 with the debut single "10 Out of 10". Since then, they've topped the Korean charts with 3 albums, topped the Japanese charts with 2 Japanese-language albums, and released an extensive string of chart-topping singles in both countries. Known for their bad-boy image and acrobatic dancing, 2PM have become a renowned live act with an ever-growing fanbase.
