Vincent in Brixton was intimate, superb
by Radnorrunner on 2/24/13Walnut Street Theatre - PhiladelphiaVincent reminds you of what theatre can be. Staged in a single, fully functional kitchen, it appeals to every sense: the cooking smells good, the tea drinking feels as though the audience should pour a cuppa and the acting envelopes you like a family- full of spice with hints of darkness, history and intrigue. The play tells the story of Vincent Van Gogh's time in a boarding house outside London. He and fellow boarders begin by unknowingly competing for the attention of the beguiling Eugenie, and it rolls on from there. Along the way, eugenie's mother provides a rich character, evoking warmth, wisdom and a surprising edge. In short, don't miss this intimate portrayal of the passionate young Vincent.Great acting throughout.
