    Disappointing

by tomelh on 4/25/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

The dialogue of a few of the actors was difficult to understand. I missed some of the best lines. Some people in my area did not return after intermission

Hated the show. It was slow and the accents made it hard to understand.

    Oscar Wilde At His Best

by JKolak on 4/19/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

Combine a seasoned and experienced ensemble of actors with a strong script and you get a good play. A well done comedy with a laugh almost every minute.

    The Importance of Being Earnest

by seakayii on 4/14/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

It was great to hear the natural voices of each member of the cast without amplification; the costumes and sets were terrific. There could have been one more curtain call at the end.

    Sound is terrible

by Cbfoster on 4/14/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

We were in row F right in front and could only hear 1/2 of what was said. The actors used high pitch voices to enhance their British accents which made it even more difficult to make out what was being said. We couldn't believe there were no mics on the actors. Ms Prisms lines were completely unrecognizable and since she pulls together the whole story at the end it was disappointing that the end was not audible for those unfamiliar with the story plot. One of our chairs broke half way thru the show and we had to scramble to find an empty seat. Not worth the mi ey we spent.

    Good show

by JBPAUSA on 4/11/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

The theatre was very nice. Comfortable seats, small enough that there are no bad seats, even toward the back. Nice lounge area, and right next to the historic district. This play started a little slow, and a long intermission came very quickly. However, the second act was very funny and we enjoyed it. Not the greatest show we've ever seen, but still worth seeing.

    Importance of Being Ernest

by Laserbeami on 4/1/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

No matter that the author was a Brit, the actors are playing to an American audience. Trying to reproduce a British accent has always been a poor try for native Americans. Just don't have the ears for it, neither the tongue, nor the mouth position. The cardinal rule of oral/written presentations: " remember the audience" you are talking to. They didn't. It was difficult to follow the dialog because of those fake English accents. The Director is to blame. LL:

    long, slow

by MarieKl on 3/28/17Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

There were 3 funny lines in this play. It was long and tedious. The intermission is early, so the 2nd half is very long. If we could have left without disturbing others, then we would have exited before it was over. The actors were good. Needs to be shortened. It is difficult to sit still in cramped seats for that long.
