Golly Gee Pee-Wee
Arizona Federal Theatre - Phoenix
The PWH 35th Anniversary tour is a bit of a downer if you're looking for fun, frivolity and super wacky stories from your host Paul Reubens. The movie with it's additional MTV Red Carpet footage is a plus and get's you pumped up for what is definitely a let down in the post monologue session with Mr. Reubens. This was not a Q & A as some have posted and Reubens let you know that form the get go, much to the dismay of the crowd. He told some stories with a molasses-like cadence in his soft monotone voice, nothing racy or uniquely different from his multiple TV appearances of the past 8 weeks. I was seated in row 4 with great visibility and became preoccupied with...when was this boring diatribe going to end. I felt guilty about it, but at $170 for the pair of tickets, you'd be better served going to a Comic Con appearance where you can interact directly with Mr. Reubens. Watch the movie at home with friends and family, YouTube the Red Carpet footage and save your $85 for a Comic Con visit with Mr. Reubens. You'll be glad you did.

It was better in my memory
The Wiltern - Los Angeles
I love "Pee Wee's Big Adventure." I love "Pee Wee's Playhouse." I did not love this event. While it was kind of fun to see the movie again on the big screen, Paul Reuben's post-movie "show" left a lot to be desired. It was just him sitting in a chair on stage telling some stories -- very low-energy, little flare, and little fun. Definitely not what I expected and not worth the ticket price (especially VIP!).

Fun time! Brought back so many memories!
Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta
This was fun night! I loved seeing the film again- as I haven't seen it since I was a child. It brought back so many memories. The audience knew all the famous lines and would shout them out. I reminded me of being at a Rocky Horror picture show screening. I loved seeing Paul come out and talk about the making of the film. I had no idea he was behind all the writing. It was also fun to see the old premiere clips they showed with many stars from the 80's. My critiques- they should have an intermission break. Everyone around me had to get up at least once. I also didn't want to miss a moment but had to take a restroom break. The talk at the end got a little long. They should have a person to interview Paul and make it more of a Q&A. I was at a similar show where the audience submitted index cards and a few were chosen and read out. It also made it exciting that your question would be chosen. I think that could work well for this show.

Paul Ruebens Still Rocks!!
Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta
Totally awesome experience watching movie with crowd interaction (reminiscent of Rocky Horror ‘cept nothing thrown 🤣) followed by Paul Ruebens answer session. Sad so many decided not to attend show cuz of CV hysteria, but not being ridiculously sardined was good for us! Would have taken and posted so many more pics of fb, but with phone lock up, so many chances lost.....

Pee Wee 35

Wonderful-event was like church given the audience participation in movie. Found Paul Reubens to be funny and understated, a great foil to PW himself.

Loved Pee Wee, hated the event
Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin
Not sure whether there was a schedule change or miscommunication, but an email went out about 3 hours before the event saying it was half an hour earlier than previously advertised. I was already well into my day and had to scramble just to make it close to showtime...only to find a LONG line of people waiting to get in. I figured it was likely due to people getting their phones put away, but we saw none of this up front, only routine security screening. Whatever the holdup, we were late for the start of the movie screening, so I missed my favorite part. :( The “Q and A” part was also only answers with no audience participation, which was good, just not what I was expecting.

Great!
Majestic Theatre Dallas - Dallas
So fun to be able to watch the movie with others that love it just as much. And Paul was funny, charming, and so humble. I loved his stories. He seems like such a sweet gentle soul. Great time.

Great show, small venue
Arizona Federal Theatre - Phoenix
Really enjoyed this show! The old footage, Paul Reuben, and no distracting cellphones in the audience all made it a wonderful time! Only complaint was the venue itself. The seats are pretty crowded in and the concessions are lacking. Could use a good renovating, but friendly staff. They were all inviting and friendly at every point of the event.
Pee-wee's Big Adventure 35th Anniversary Tour With Paul Reubens on Tour
In 1985, comedian Paul Reubens brought his geeky man-child alter-ego Pee-wee Herman to the big screen with Pee-wee's Big Adventure — a colorful fusion of fun-loving, family-friendly road-trip flick and bizarro-world midnight-movie experience that both delighted and (thanks to a certain creepy truck driver named Marge) bewildered a generation of kids. The film has gone to become a multigenerational cult classic, and to mark its 35th anniversary, Pee-wee is once again hitting the road — for a multi-city American tour where screenings of the film will be followed by a live Q&A session with Reubens. Like a DVD-commentary track brought to life, Reubens will share behind-the-scenes stories of the film's creation — the perfect chaser to another round of "Tequila!"
Pee-wee's Big Adventure 35th Anniversary Tour With Paul Reubens Background
As a member of legendary Los Angeles improv troupe The Groundlings, Paul Reubens developed his irrepressibly manic Pee-wee Herman character as a caricature of a cluelessly bad comedian, decked out in a tight gray suit and nerdy red bowtie. In the early ‘80s, the Pee-wee persona gained notoriety through a popular stage revue, The Pee-wee Herman Show, an irreverent spin on a '50s-era kids program that was a lot more risqué than the childish humor for which he would become famous. After filming the show for a 1981 HBO special, Pee-wee became a recurring guest on Late Night With David Letterman, and gradually transformed from fringe figure to national star. In 1985, Reubens teamed up with a then-unknown young director named Tim Burton to adapt his puppet-populated universe into a feature film about Pee-wee's cross-country search for his stolen vintage Schwinn. The result, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, was more kid-oriented than Reubens' stage show, but thanks to Burton's visual ingenuity, still plenty surreal. While not exactly a blockbuster smash in its time, the film was successful enough to spawn the beloved Saturday-morning program Pee-wee's Playhouse, which ran on CBS from 1986 to 1990. And though Reubens retired the character shortly thereafter, the cult of Pee-wee Herman has only continued to grow in the decades since, as parents introduce new generations of kids to his uniquely eccentric charms.
