Fantastic Performance
Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise
The Great Divorce performed by Fellowship for Performing Arts on 7-30-22 at the Morrison Center in Boise was a fantastic show. Based on the book of the same title by CS Lewis the show was compelling, thought provoking, not preachy or in-your-face. Excellent acting by just 4 actors, 3 of whom played multiple roles. Fabulous lighting/sound effects and backdrop scenes.

What a great performance! This production took a book and artfully condensed it into a great okay. We’ll done.

Wonderful!

I think the night can be summed up by that fact that, after the show, there was a Q&A. One of the last questions was why there weren't more showings, and everyone seemed to agree. Hope they come back!

Okay, but sound was sometimes bad
Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise
I felt this production could have been better. I liked what they did, but the sound was sometimes not loud enough to hear all the dialogue, which was often rapid-fire, and the setting was disappointing. Also, I felt much of the flavor of Lewis was left out of the production. I really like the acting, but again the visuals and the sound left something to be desired. I'm not sure about the selection of the parts of the Great Divorce, if a salvation message is to come across strong.

My Favorite Book Brought to Life
Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise
It was wonderful to see this work by CS Lewis brought to life by very skilled actors, writeres, and technicians. The play was true to the book and complete enough. The dramatization was definitely commendable. The set was adequate to convince the uninitiated of the setting but at times more generic than inspiring. The idea of grass too solid for mortal feet was convincing. I was disappointed in the overly loud sound--both voices and sound effects--in the auditorium and the pre-performance wait outside the auditorium where seating was far from adequate. Thank you for this thought-provoking performance of one of my favorite books.

Wonderful Rendition of Book
Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise
I was so impressed by the four actors that brought this amazing book to life. I wasn't sure how the visuals could be done on stage but it was executed beautifully with the backdrop and minimal stage props. The cast did such an amazing job depicting each character that you nearly forgot they had just played the roll of a completely different one. I am recommending all my friends and family see this. I was especially glad I stayed for the Q&A at the end, what a pleasure it was. The last thing I would like to state is how exciting it was to see such a large turn out for for the performance and to see minimal masks in the audience. It was like the good ol' days.
