EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE BY SPECIAL TALENTED MUSICIANS.
the Buena Vista social club makes the most incredible music. It is music from the heart and soul, sometimes mournful and sometimes with infectious rythm. Although Many of the original members have passed away, there are still several of the original members there, and they are bringing a new generation amazing musicians and singers into the orchestra.
Great seats, Row E recommended for the best view - sound was good - wish the vocals were a little more pronounced. Music was wonderful and they were enjoying themselves too onstage. So glad we saw this iconic group. Omara really was wonderful and gave it her all.
Go DPAC . My wife and I went to Cuba back in May of this year and we love it. Good food, fun dancing and the utmost friendly peoples. The Cuba music is awesome
At the show, a packed house of over 2500 were on their feet and dancing through most of the show. There was so much electricity in the air. Since this was there last world tour, we realized that something like this would never happen again. It was wonderful!
The BV Orquesta really brought to life all of the music and people from the Buena Vista Social Club. This show was even better than I had anticipated.
So sad that this group will not be around for another fifty years. Their music is timeless. It was amazing to see the energy they all still have even at their advanced age. Her fabulous voice still is strong as ever. The entire auditorium was up dancing throughout most of the performance. Our first time to this venue and were very impressed. My husband is well over six feet tall and he was so happy to be able to sit in a very comfortable chair without his knees hitting the seat in front of him. He was happy throughout the entire performance.
As person who visited Cuba and a long-timer lover of Cuban music (we have much-listened-to CDs of the performers), this concert was heaven on earth, which I feel is the only place where heaven is Many thanks to all who made this concert happen. PS We traveled 100 miles to see it.
This group is so great to listen to. The audience reaction to them couldn't have been more enthusiastic. Amazingly good. This is a great theatre, too.
Saw them back in early 2000 and they were every bit as good now as then. Omara portuendo was amazing.
You have to love the 4 that are left but only one can still really play and sing. The new blood added is NOT good. I hold that album and the documentary in such high regard so the present reality was a rude awakening. The Burnsville Performing Arts Center also had TERRIBLE sound quality, and one of the staffers, apparently a manager was exceedingly rude. I would stay away from that venue.
As always, Buena Vista Social Club is an unforgettable experience. I could see them again and again. As openers, Cuban Jazz Pianist Roberto Fonseca and his band were a pleasant new experience for me, providing fresh new jazz with a Cuban and Afro-Cuban flair. Mr. Fonseca was mentored by Ibrahim Ferrer...Buena Vista Social Club great! SEE THIS SHOW!
The old and the new combined to faithfully recreate the traditional repertoire. Everybody, band and overflow audience, thoroughly enjoyed themselves . Eliades Ochoa played and sang as well as ever. Barbarities Torres too. Omara Portuonda warmed our hearts. The spirits of Compay Segundo and Ibrahim Ferrer were with us. Roberto Fonseca, a virtuoso pianist and protege of Chucho Valdes, opened the show. His band comprised accomplished performers, and the singer from Mali brought a vibrant breath of Africa with him. The audience loved them. My one criticism is that Fonseca was too often more concerned with showing off his technical skills than love of the melodies. Arturo Sandoval! Still, all in all a rewarding night.
