About

GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE tells the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, an heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by—you guessed it—eliminating the eight pesky relatives who stand in his way. All the while, Monty has to juggle his mistress (she’s after more than just love), his fiancée (she’s his cousin but who’s keeping track?), and the constant threat of landing behind bars! Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance… and be done in time for tea. The Hollywood Reporter raves, “GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE RESTORES OUR FAITH IN MUSICAL COMEDY” and The New York Times cheers, “IT WILL LIFT THE HEARTS OF ALL THOSE WHO’VE BEEN PINING FOR WHAT SOMETIMES SEEMS A LOST ART FORM.” Kindly get your tickets now for the musical that will have you dying with laughter.

    Gentleman’s Guide was very entertaining

by Kaymuffin26 on 1/14/18Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I loved the play. The acoustics in the balcony were not the best, but you could get the gist. I would recommend reading the story on Wikipedia first because there are many characters. The acting and choreography were fabulous. Lots of laughs. I gave it a 4 because of the poor acoustics.

On the way out I overheard someone actually say “I can’t believe the theater could be so entertaining”. This storyline of love and murder was fabulous. It was a running theme of fun and laughter through murder. You should go at any chance you get

A Guide to Love and Murder VERSUS audience MORONS.

by Generalfedup on 1/13/18Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The musical was wonderFul, creative and deserved the Tony for Best Musical. THIS audience gets an F- This is a recurrent problem at BPAC and all theaters.. Besides instructing people to turn off there cellphones, tell them to turn off their mouths.. I am tired SHUSING people. They think they are in their living rooms. I do not pay good money to listen/yell over the performers singing to talk to their friends. Seniors are the worst culprits and THEY should know better. You have to start printing in Playbill THEATER ETIQUETTE. Screaming at curtain calls is nerve racking and those IDIOTS rushing out during curtain call should be not allowed back into any theaters. Tell them to sit in their cars at Intermission and leave NOW to avoid congestion. The Garage personnel are not helpful moving traffic along they just sit at the corner of the garage picking their noses (observed) .WHY is the BPRC selling food items in cellophane wrappers. I heard the wrapping noise all through the second act. Theaters are afraid of reprimanding rude patrons due to-possible business loss. Your losing MORE people because they will not return to chaos. Their is no respect for anyone else, but these rubes plain selfish actions I DARE you to print this and you won't as usual. Ignore and you will loose more business.

    Guide to Love and Murder

by Gatlinfanman on 12/11/17The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

Left at the intermission. Could not understand the accent so only 'got' about 1/10 of the jokes. People laughed at odd times, someone sits down and a some would howl with laughter. Not funny and a bad waste of money. DON'T GO.

Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder

by LAUGH77 on 12/9/17The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

I thought the sound was handled badly. Sopranos were "shrieking." It may have been where I was sitting, but I found it difficult to understand the lyrics, thus missed most of the laughs. It was OK...not my favorite. A lot of the cast was debuting...that may have been the reason, as opposed to an experienced cast.

    Great Entertainment

by mccrity on 12/9/17The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

My girlfriend and I are not huge fans of musicals. I bought 4 tickets, so we could take two friends with us, not realizing at the time that it was a musical. We were quite pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed this show. The actors were quite talented and had great voices. Each scene was packed with a lot of humor. There was a lot of very clever, funny stuff going on in the background, as one of the characters would be singing. The story line could have been presented with a serious, dark presentation. However, it was done quite humorously. WARNING: this is not something to take young children to.

    Fabulous

by NMmusic on 12/8/17The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

I saw this on Broadway 2 years before El Paso touring. This group was as good as the NYC troupe. The sound was great, the cast perfect. It got the Tony for a reason!

For me only a so so play

by StevieY on 12/6/17Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza - Thousand Oaks

First of all it is a British speaking musical where the songs are singing of the dialogue so very hard to understand with the British accent what they are actually singing. It is a comedy so even though I couldn't hear very well and understand the words, some actions were funny. Not sure why the set was put so far back on the stage showing at least a 10 row space from the entertainers in most of the play from the distance of the actual front row. I didn't have a chance even in the Founders circle, row B to see the characters clearly. I wish I would have known because I would have stayed home. We left at intermission. I love plays and go all the time, but this was not a favorite at all.

I I had difficulty understanding the actors words partly because of the poor sound system but also the accent of the actors. The plot is stupid and supposidly funny. Best viewed in a small London theater.

    Not for me

by Hfdj on 12/2/17William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

It was difficult to understand the fake, exaggerated British accents. Although there were a few funny moments, I thought it was a waste of money and my husband and I left at intermission, as did a number of other people.

    Great Show!

by Gracie1701 on 11/2/17Broome County Forum - Binghamton

The show was fantastic! It did take me a while to get into it, because it is very outlandish and somewhat campy, but once I did I really enjoyed it. It's a fun show with some dark humor. The cast was exceptional. The two leads were great, as well as the leading ladies. I was very impressed by how well the actor playing the D'Ysquith family played the range of characters. The set was also good, I think reworked to work on different stage sizes as the show toured. I appreciated the use of the screen that allowed for special effects and scene changes without overdoing it. Overall, the show was great!

    Gentleman's guide was great

by Alec12 on 11/1/17Broome County Forum - Binghamton

The Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder was very cleverly and effectively staged, with an engaging young cast and jolly songs. It was just as good as its (uncredited) predecessor "Kind Hearts and Coronets," the movie drawn from the same book.

Didn't know what to expect other then out with friends. We has such a great time laughing with everyone else. There isn't much to laugh at these days. The story was cute and original. Music/singing was very good during the entire play. I would tell everyone that enjoys that kind of play to see it when you can. We found it fun and we all said bravo, thanks to the entire cast and production company. We were thrilled to have attended " A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder".
