The main interest initially for me was to see the Machine in action, and although there was a delay of some 40 minutes in which one's imagination played with a bevy of grease guns operating to relieve the groaning of the pain being experienced by the said machine, that being said the mechanism worked perfectly and all in all it was a new experience brought about by the leaness of the set and the images played upon the surface. The whole production was splendid and impressive to say the least. The only thing somewhat lacking were refreshments that were available at UPAC Kingston. Could be a little more lavish, but that lapse did not take away from the overall enjoyment.

Though there is nothing comparable to live opera, the Met Live in HD performances are a great way to see some amazing productions for a very reasonable price. In particular, this production of the Ring Cycle has a stage set that is just awe inspiring and the cast and orchestra are first rate. Highly recommended.

After the long, long interview with the director where he espoused his philosophy about Wagner's Ring, none of what he talked about seemed to make it to the stage. The performance itself was fine, not terrific, just fine, but the production was beyond stupid. Happily not even these interfering directors with there modern analysis cannot ruin the Ring cycle.

Absolutely divine! The performance was impeccable and
could not have been better.
