Beauty and wBeadt Panto was great!

by MANDRMOM on 12/19/17The Pasadena Civic - Pasadena

The music was fantastic, stuff from the 70’s through current. My daughter and I thought the selections went well with the show and the jokes about Pasadena and the surrounding areas were great. We loved it.

    B&B Christmas Rose was disappointing

by PassFan on 12/19/17The Pasadena Civic - Pasadena

The actors and dancers did a wonderful job and for the most part their voices were terrific, but the music chosen for this play and the storyline itself was just too far from the actual play and seemed a bit disjointed. We are big fans of the panto style and have seen several plays and accross the board this was our least favorite.

    Great fun for the family!

by PantoFan on 12/19/17The Pasadena Civic - Pasadena

Amazing cast, AMAZING singing! Loved the way current music is incorporated and the audience participation. Laugh out loud humor. If you have young children, you absolutely have to get a Golden Ticket for them. The kids with a Golden Ticket get to come on stage and be "part of the show." Adorable. Can't wait for next year!

Beauty in the beast totally sucked! Was geared toward four and five-year-olds.

    Not like past years

by MomOf3TheaterLovers on 12/18/17The Pasadena Civic - Pasadena

The script sounds made up in the spot. Sort of lethargic and wandering. The costumes have none of the zip and hilarity of years’ past. The cast is fine but what can they do with a script written in an hour. There is no Christmas element at all- none. It is an absolute standard telling of beauty and the beast but none of the inhabitants of The beast’s house are objects. Apparently that would have required new fun costumes. Belle is a fine singer but she comes across as rude and somewhat unpleasant. The song choice this year seems half hearted. I’m sad to say I have nothing nice to say and some folks are leaving at intermission. I would have if I didn’t have kids who were liking it. But even they missed things like the zany and wild stepsisters from Cinderella. They all agreed no villains equals no fun.

    Entertaining

by Delmere on 12/18/17The Pasadena Civic - Pasadena

This musical had the feel of being hurriedly put to together. The choreography was weak, the music was pop, the storyline was flimsy. But entertaining it was, especially for girls between the ages of 5 and 11. The lead roles had excellent voices, especially Jonah Platt as the Beast (but he did not have many songs to sing). The comic characters stole the show for me; Jared Gertner as Pierre and Harrison White as Dame Chanel.

    Different experience, but enjoyable

by Linprn on 12/17/17The Pasadena Civic - Pasadena

I didn't know what to expect, but loved it! We came to see Caden Miller dance and he didn't disappoint, the entire cast was very talented.

    Great Experience!

by Julz94708 on 4/7/16San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

I attended this musical with my twelve year-old daughter, and we were both entranced by the production. There was a four year-old girl sitting next to me, dressed in a Belle dress, and she was mesmerized throughout also (not a small feat for preschoolers!). In this particular show, both Maurice and the Beast were played by understudies, but they were fantastic and we would have never known they weren't the every day performers. If you're looking for reviews of the San Jose Center for Performing Arts, then I absolutely recommend the venue too. It's just the right size. We sat in the balcony, 7th row and to the right of center. We had a clear view of the stage and the sound was perfect.

    Disneylightful

by katzdelibear on 4/6/16San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

The production of Beauty and the Beast in San Jose was a delight. The cast and the staging was first rate and equal to a Broadway production. The only area that could be improved was the sound quality. There were some scenes where the sound system seemed a bit weak and hollow

    Beautiful Performance!

by YSanchez87 on 4/6/16San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

This was a gift for my 8 year old's birthday. She absolutely loved it as we all did! We had front row seats and it was great to see the actors'/actresses' expressions close up like that. And the kids were excited that they got to see the orchestra below us.

Beauty and the Beast was magical

by MSFB on 4/6/16San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

I took my 4 year old granddaughter and she was just awed by this musical. The singing was exceptional and the characters were so animated she easillay identified all of them. I am still trying to figure out how they hid "Chip's" body. I highly recommend this production. It will take you into a magical place for a few hours
