    Fantastic production

by Jim on 11/29/23Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

An explosion of great dance energy rides exciting and firm choreography and results in a splendid show! Super choice of performers, genres musicians and a terrific tenor in the opening number. This fourth year performance of Men Who Dance was the best yet. Cannot wait until next year

What a wonderful outing to see different types of dance all in one concert capturing every essence of the male performer. I look forward to seeing the next performance with more genres. Bravo, well done, I am a fan!

    Amazing

by Silverfox on 11/29/23Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Men Who Dance are an exquisite company of dancers. Their performances will take your breath away. Wonderful to see so many dancers from so many different countries. I attend many different dance performances here in Ft. Lauderdale and also in Cleveland, Oh. But Men Who Dance are my absolute favorites. I never miss a performance.

Good (Dance) Program; Bad (Printed) Program

by Minority Audience on 11/28/23Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

This was my second time seeing this program. This one was stronger choreographically than last year's program. I loved the inclusion of so much more diversity. I loved seeing the classical ballet, modern, vogue, and more. The costumes were beautiful. The lighting designs were also quite good for most of the pieces. The ensemble who performed capoeira weren't used to performing in a proscenium stage and came out of the light quite often. The lighting for the vogue piece in heels was too dark considering how much black the dancers were wearing - even though some wore silver embellishments and accessories. I am a senior citizen with growing eye sight issues. I could not read last year's program and I could not read this year's program either. Next year (and ALWAYS), consider consulting with diversity and inclusion experts who can speak to you about creating printed programs that are legible to a wider audience. Most of the audience were elders and this was the topic of discussion amongst those I spoke to or who were within earshot of me. I went online and found that program equally just as inaccessible. (FYI: I have no issues reading the printed programs that Miami City Ballet and other dance companies publish.)

    These men can DANCE!

by David R on 11/30/22Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

We really enjoyed the program, which consisted of around 20 different dance numbers performed by members of a variety of South Florida cultural institutions including the Miami City Ballet. Our especial favorites were the two thrilling tangos performed by brothers (twins?). Wow, just wow.

    New Perspectives - Bravo!

by Let's Dance SFL on 11/30/22Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

This was my first exposure to this dance project now in its third season. This effort is to be applauded; the concept is vital and should be supported and sustained. The exploration of gender and masculinity through dance is unquestionably valid and creates one way for dance to be relevant to and attract younger audiences while also giving older audiences fresh perspectives. The inter-American aspect also is a positive element for two reasons: it makes sense for South Florida; it also brings a wider vision to the appreciation of dance. The quality of choreography and dancers’ competence in this program was uneven, but I do not see that as a serious flaw. Rather, it was a consequence of a perfectly legitimate effort to seek diverse visions (applicable to modern ballet and dance and popular forms) and to include less experienced dancers for the benefit of their professional development. It was part of the growing pains of this young venture. I appreciated the fact that the pieces were short: that added to the sense of experimentation, of suggestion of new possibilities; and it helped the viewer to focus more intently on what each piece was intending to say. Though not part of the dance program itself, I also appreciated that this project is trying to promote a regional vision of arts planning and funding. That is to be commended. I am looking forward to next year. Because I attend a variety of other dance programs in South Florida during the year, I now am looking forward to those performances from the new perspectives created by “Men Who Dance.”

    Unexpected and Awesome

by Cheshire on 11/29/22Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The performances were stunning. The dancing was stunning. The choreography was stunning. Worth every minute! Only downside--- we didn't know who the dancers were! Add to the "program". Also, wish that there had been some way to identify the group and the music prior to each "act"--- a flash on the screen behind perhaps. A great evening and audience!

    LOVED it!

by Dreadeddancer on 11/29/22Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Absolutely loved this! So many wonder male dancers dancing such wonderful styles of dance. It made for a long night but wasn’t even aware until the end how long the program was. Nice costumes. Good choreography.
