    Good Show, Horrible Food

by Joel H on 4/9/24Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

Our experience at TDT was good and bad. The show was pretty good. The actors did a great job. The set props were a little junkie. Overall the show was good though. The food, however, was absolutely disgusting. The Caesar salad was over dressed and wilted. The seafood salad had too much mayo and tasted gross. The fruit (honeydew and cantaloupe) was cut into fist size chunks making it difficult to eat. The carrots tasted like they were bathed in orange juice concentrate. The mashed potatoes were soup. The Mac and cheese was very overcooked and limp. There was a creamed spinach side dish that was pretty good (it had a cheesy topping that was tasty). The shrimp cocktail was old and expired. The meatloaf looked like a sliced up anaconda with brown goop poured over it (I couldn’t bring myself to try it). The chicken Coq Au Vin was the only decent main dish on the buffet. The fish was overcooked and smelled bad. The roast beef was a humongous steamship round and, even rare, was tough as a shoe. I bathed the roast beef in horseradish sauce to make it edible but had extreme difficulty cutting it because there were no steak knives. The cheesecake had a mealy texture and was gross. The ice cream bar was simply a table set up in the lobby with small bowls of ice cream set out for guests to take. There were also some toppings like chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, but no crunchy toppings like peanuts. I am glad we patronized TDT once so we know what the experience is like. However, unless the food quality drastically improves, we will not return. This upsets me because the show was actually pretty good which is the ONLY reason why this review gets a three out of five. With more money invested into the stage sets, they could eventually rival a Disney performance.

    Amazing Show

by Af on 3/18/24Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

The show was amazing. We had a great time . It kept the attention of my 21 month old daughter. The singing and performances of the actor and actresses were phenomenal . I highly recommend .
