Note: The show gets 1 star...The venue gets 4 stars.
I have seen Tiesto many times, from Beijing to Chicago, and have to say that this was the worst performance to date. My 1 star rating reflects all the past shows I have seen compared to this one.
Let me first start with the positives. The venue gets 5 stars:
1) There was no wait to get in with a ticket.
2) You were able to bring drinks in, security had me fill up a venue cup.
3) Staff and security were nice
4) The venue was clean, including the bathrooms
5) Did not feel overcrowded
6) Decent sound system
7) My only complaint, is that I paid $125 for the ticket online (including fees), and a week before the show, the price dropped to $90. The venue (or broker) must have had a difficult time selling out.
And the 1 star, for Tiesto and opening act:
1) The opening act was sleepy. I mean, come on, you couldn't get a better opener, especially since Benny B, Avicii, Dead5mau, Armin VanB, Ferry C, and every other Top 10 DJ was in Vegas for the Marquee Fest and weekend. (at least have a surprise appearance).
2) Tiesto looked TIRED...TIRED...TIRED. He was not into the crowd or the music. I guess that's what happens when you DJ the night before in NY, and then do an entire set the next afternoon at a pool party in Vegas, right before the Hard Rock show.
3) The light system used was sub-par. I know he has used better at this venue, and others. C'Mon man.
4) His set list was AWFUL. He did play a couple classics, including Adagio for Strings, but only played a couple of his new Club tracks. THAT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. I'm not a fan of the song "Girls with Bangs," but playing that would have been better than nothing.
5) I hate it when DJ's leave the stage for a bathroom break, or to talk to someone...(your set was only 3 hours, so wait).
All-in-all, I am tempted to fly back for his December show. I expect and know he can do better!
