Smash Into Pieces on Tour

Swedish rock band Smash Into Pieces are adept at blending hard rock, EDM and emo punk. They're also known for their explosive live performances and sci-fi aesthetic, including a drummer who wears a robotic mask and goes by the name "Apocalypse DJ." Smash Into Pieces released their debut album Unbreakable in 2013 and quickly gained attention for their bombastic sound.

Comprising vocalist Chris Adam Hedman Sörbye, guitarists Benjamin Jennebo and Per Bergquist, bassist Viktor Vidlund, and drummer Isak Snow, Smash Into Pieces were 2023 finalists in the renowned Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen, which determines Sweden's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. They performed their anthemic single "Six Feet Under," which vocalist Hedman Sörbye has said is about experiencing depression and feelings of inadequacy. The song ultimately conveys a message of hope, reminding the listener that things will get better.

In April 2013, the band signed a record deal with Scandinavian rock and metal label Gain Music Entertainment/Sony Music to release their debut album, Unbreakable. They've since toured throughout the world, amassing a loyal fanbase across their native Sweden, as well as in the U.K., U.S. and beyond.

Smash Into Pieces Live in Concert

Smash Into Pieces formed in Örebro, Sweden in 2008 when guitarist Benjamin Jennebo and drummer Isak Snow began jamming together. Vocalist Chris Adam Hedman Sörbye, bassist Viktor Vidlund and guitarist Per Bergquist joined the group soon after, and the band played their first gigs in local pubs.

The rising act quickly gained national recognition and reached the semifinals of "Talang," the Swedish version of the "Got Talent" TV series, in 2009, but reportedly dropped out to sign a record deal with Ninetone Records. The deal disintegrated after the release of only one single, "Fading," but the group found a new label home with Gain Music Entertainment, under Sony Music, in 2013.

Smash Into Pieces have since reinvigorated their sound, incorporating keyboard and electronic elements into their hardcore melodic rock and appealing to an even wider audience. The bandmembers are also open about mental health issues; vocalist Hedman Sörbye notes that their 2023 single, "Six Feet Under," chronicles his battle with depression.

    :)

by Skyla on 5/8/23The Queen - Wilmington

This was my first concert and I loved it so much. I tried to go to the NY one too but I couldn’t sadly. If smash or citizen Soldier comes back to my area I will definitely be seeing them again.

    Amazing

    by Fishlird0924 on 5/8/23The Queen - Wilmington

The Queen is awesome. Never a bad view of the stage. Such an intake but rocking show. Citizen Soldier and Smash Into Pieces are amazing. They interacted with the fans, stayed late to meet everyone and talk for a minute. I’ve been to massively large concerts that just seem so impersonal but going to this show just changed the way I view my concert experience. The staff at the queen is amazing. The one band was a little late due to bud troubles but the staff constantly kept us fans updated and informed. Just the best experience ever.

This was by far one of the best concerts I've been to.

by S & D on 5/7/23The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

The music was at the perfect volume, we could hear every word that was sung and we weren't deaf the day after, like most concerts. The venue was intimate, and we were only about 2 people deep from the stage. Both Smash Into Pieces and Citizen Soldier sound just as good in person as they do on Spotify! Their vocal range is very impressive! We can't wait to see them again. So impressed!!

Getting to meet both Smash into Pieces and Citizen Soldier was a dream come true. VIP section was also amazing, getting to meet SIP in person and speak with them. Definitely one of the best ways to spend an anniversary.

Huge Fan, Never Grow Tired of Them

by Red on 5/6/23The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

I go all out at their concerts. I constantly jump up and down, dance, and lose my mind! This band is full of energy with epic lighting and movement. Apocalypse DJ has an amazing, custom led mask that does all sorts of things he made and programmed himself. Chris Adam's voice is absolutely wonderful! I appreciate he did more of his growling this concert. It was a true honor to be able to photograph them again. Such a blast! I love and adore their music.

    Unbelievable performance

by Nacho on 5/4/23The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

Smash into Pieces are my favorite band. I loved them and Chris vocals are ON POINT! APOC is so awesome on the Roland Electric kit and is so cool with the "theatrics". I think the manager or promotor is not doing a great job with Smash into Pieces. They deserve to play in a bigger venue then the Cambridge room at the House of Blues in Dallas, as it was very crowded. The HOB did not put Smash into Pieces banner up but had Citizen Soldiers banner up there which should of been taken down between shows since SiP was the headliner. I really missed that Benjamin Jennebo was not there but was in Sweden writing more music for the band, but that was a band decision. I WILL go to every show that Smash into Pieces when they come back to Dallas and will get others to go with me. Rock on Smash into Pieces!!
