RINGO DEATHSTARR IN CONCERT:
Ā
Ringo Deathstarr serves up a classic sampler platter of the best elements of shoegaze, combining effects-drenched guitars, male/female harmonies, and hypnotically propulsive rhythms. At their live shows frontman Elliott Frazier perfectly embodies the group's aesthetic as his placid vocals act like a beacon in the fog of his distorted, seasick guitar playing. Bassist Alex Gehring provides a whimsical female foil, softening the extreme elements of the bandās sound with her lullaby harmonies while she simultaneously drives home the bandās pummeling bass lines. Completing the sound is drummer Daniel Coburn, whose furiously fast stick work and explosive fills propel the bands songs ever-forward. Ticket buyers can expect all the unabashedly noisy pop they can handle from Ringo Deathstarr as they continue to take over the alternative music scene on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Ā
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Elliott Frazier founded Ringo Deathstarr in his hometown of Beumont, TX before relocating to nearby music hub Austin in 2007. There, he put together the lineup of Renan McFarland (guitar), Alex Gehring (bass/vocals), and Dustin Gaudet (drums). The group released their five-song self-titled EP in 2007, and followed up with a string of successful singles like āIn Loveā and āYou Donāt Listenā. McFarland and Gaudet left the group by 2009, but drummer Daniel Coburn stepped in for the bandās 2011 full-length debut Colour Trip. The album helped the trio build an international following as they toured the US, Japan, and the UK. Their 2012 sophomore effort Mauve received even more critical praise and earned the group a spot opening for The Smashing Pumpkins on tour. With a highly anticipated third album in the works for 2015, Ringo Deathstarr continues to captivate ticket buyers with their infectious brand of noise rock every time they take the stage.

The sound quality was terrible. The volume was way too loud and the feedback was unbearable. I tried moving farther away from the stage and putting ear plugs in, but nothing helped. Ultimately, I had to leave the show after 3 songs. Horrible time and not worth the cost. This has not been my experience at every Echoplex show so I am very disappointed.
Amazing lineup and killer performers. I have a new favorite band as the result of going. As for Rough Trade, it's an excellent venue and my first time going there. Thanks for bringing Austin, TX (Levitation) to my doorstep in Brooklyn!
