About
Brooklyn native Lola Brooke's fiery New York attitude comes through in her music and onstage. With as much energy as the city she hails from, Brooke is a dynamic rapper who's set to make waves worldwide.
Born Shyniece Thomas in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, she was raised as an only child by her widowed mother. Thomas started rapping at the age of eight, encouraged by her grandmother, and took inspiration from 50 Cent, Lil Wayne and Meek Mill. She kicked off her professional music career at the age of 23, creating her stage name from the character Lola Bunny on Looney Tunes and her hometown of Brooklyn.
Lola Brooke got her start making the rounds on New York's freestyle circuit and caught the attention of producer Reefa Slater. She signed with his newly-formed Team 80 Productions in 2016, and released her first music video to a freestyle titled "2017 Flow" shortly after. Her first single was 2018's "Not the Same," which helped establish her bold sound. Following the release of the singles "Boy!" and "Cash Out" in 2019, she caught the attention of New York DJs including DJ Kay Slay, DJ Envy and DJ Enuff, and gained further notoriety when Future invited her to perform during his New Year's Eve show at Barclays Center in 2022.
Brooke also got a boost when her 2021 single "Don't Play With It" went viral on Twitter and TikTok, with the song featuring in a Kim Kardashian TikTok video. The song peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and she signed with Arista Records in 2023.
Lola Brooke has collaborated with artists like NLE Choppa, Flo Milli, Jaquae, and Latto, and was an opening act for A Boogie wit da Hoodie's Me v. Myself Tour in 2023. She brings her raw talent and impressive energy to every live performance, and will continue to head out on tour in 2023, performing concerts and festival sets throughout the United States and Europe.
