The concert was lively, engaging and simply fabulous!
I love this type of concert where we certainly got our money's worth. Cheryl Wheeler, John Gorka, and Christine Lavin were my favorites, but I also liked Patti Larkin and Clif Everhardt whom I was not that familiar with. Cheryl was a real comedian and so was Christine whom I have heard many times before. Cheryl is a terrific songwriter and has a great contralto voice. John Gorka is a wonderful songwriter with a pure voice and an angelic face. He and Clif had great chemistry! Patti was very interesting and different and I liked her slide guitar accompaniment.
What a great concert! We went primarily to see Christine Lavin, but the other 4 musicians were also fantastic. It was a great evening!
Five singer/songwriters, all incredibly accomplished, all good friends. It was a wonderful, warm performance. I've seen several of these five perform over the past 30 years, and it's wonderful to see how their music has matured - in style, technique, and content.
Venue was perfect for showcasing these five fantastic folk performers. Individual spotlights then a round robin with so many great songs and stories. Don’t miss this tour!
Five classic performers, all in good voice and spirits - what more could a fan hope for?
This was a wonderful evening of round robin entertainment with pork favorites Cheryl Wheeler and John Gorka were outstanding everyone was funny. Unfortunately it was not even half full I’m afraid they may have price themselves out of the market.
Christine's show are always wonderful and entertaining. The groups she brings along never cease to please us with new and different material! Having Tom Paxton make an appearance was more than we expected. I sure hope she's feeling better after that awful kidney stone incident!
It has been about 15 years since my lovely bride and I have seen Christine on stage. It was our first time seeing Uncle Bonsai and they are very good as well! Almost would make living in Seattle okay. The Birchmere was a great venue to see them, with it's acoustics and intimacy.
Having seen Christine Lavin twice in concert before, this was our first "holiday" concert, and it was certainly great entertainment. She did have a few times where she got a bit lost in her lyrics, and this is to be understood, as they are definitely not easy to memorize. Perhaps she could use a teleprompter for her more complex numbers in the future. Uncle Bonsai was utterly hysterical, and very creative! We will definitely check them out if they're in town again.
