    Total Disappointment!

by Metalman on 4/15/24Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic City

Me and my wife were really looking forward to this show. We are both in our 60’s and just love the music of the Carpenters. We grew up with their music. The show was at Ocean Resort & Casino in Atlantic City NJ. However, the show was a real disappointment from the opening song. Being a musician (Drummer) myself I quickly realized that they were using backing tracks. I noticed the drummer was not playing what the backing track were playing. He continued to play a straight beat while the backing track had drum fills going on. There were only 4 musicians onstage. The Pianist who was supposed to be Richard Cartpenter, a flute player and 2 female string musicians. There was no guitarist, bass guitar player, keyboardist or any horn section yet you could clearly hear horns, guitar and bass in the backing tracks. We felt cheated. Also the singer who was supposed to be Karen Carpenter sounded nothing like her. Her voice was too high and she had zero vibrato. Her pitch was also all over the place. Very flat. There was also too much talking in between songs. The show became campy and loungy. After 4 songs in me and my wife had enough and we left. We also had friends who were there but sitting In another section of the venue and later on when we met up with them they too said they had left after a few songs. If you love the Carpenters skip this show as I’m sure you will end up as disappointed as we were.

    A little disappointed

by Ricky on 4/15/24Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic City

0verall performance was outstanding. Only drawback for me was a little too much focus on Richard. In addition with all the Carpenter songs available, not sure we needed a medley of Burt Bacharach songs.

    Not enough "Karen"

by bushey on 4/15/24Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic City

When you go to hear a Carpenters Tribute band, you are really going to hear "Karen"sing, and mostly their hits. The first 5 or 6 songs were familiar songs, probably from their albums, but not their familiar hits. Then "Karen"left the stage leaving "Richard"to spend about 20 minutes on his own. First, he brought audience members on the stage to do a Spike Jones bit with bicycle horns and duck calls and then to play an elongated piano mashup of tunes "suggested"by the audience. The man is a good pianist, but not what we came to hear. When "Karen"came back out she did about a 10-15 minute medley covering most of the Carpenters hits, singing about 1 verse of each. Toward the end she sang all of "We've only just begun"and possibly one other hit song. I wouldn't pay to go see them again.

    Worst show ever

by April on 4/15/24Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic City

I had high hopes for this show, but it really felt very flat. There was way too much talking and barely any singing. Was looking forward to hearing all of the Carpenter songs, but all of the best songs they did a medley. Everyone around me was extremely disappointed and many people walked out. If you are a carpenters fan, skip this and go see top of the world.

    More songs

by Jim on 4/15/24Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic City

They did a nice job, but would have liked to hear more singing and less history.

    They do the Carpenters proud

    by Rudy on 4/15/24

Sally Olson and Ned Mills were stupendous this past weekend at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City My friend and I enjoyed every minute of the performance - their reenactment of the Carpenters’ 1976 tour is as heartfelt as it is technically brilliant. For anyone who misses Karen - or, like me, never had the opportunity to see her - Sally inhabits her in mind, body and spirit, right down to every arched shoulder, roll of the eye and thoughtful turn of phrase. Ned is playful and entertaining, evoking the charisma Richard brought to their live shows. This is as much theater as it is a concert. The audience ate it up from start to finish and walked out with smiles on their faces and songs on their lips. This is highly recommended for all Carpenters fans - whether you’re a fanatic with every album and single or simply enjoy the greatest hits, this show will delight you and take you on a rare walk down memory lane. “It’s yesterday once more…” 🎶

    A superb Carpenters show

by KennyB on 3/24/24V Theater at Planet Hollywood Inside the Miracle Mile Mall - Las Vegas

If you love The Carpenters, you'll love this show. A fantastic arrangement of music along with a lot of vintage Carpenters photos and video. The best tribute/impersonation show I've seen.
