Brampton Honey Badgers History

The Honey Badgers are a professional basketball team based in Brampton, Ontario, playing out of the CAA Centre and competing in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Established June 12, 2018 as the Hamilton Honey Badgers, the club is one of the CEBL's original six founding franchises and relocated to Brampton in 2023. The Honey Badgers have a rich history of success that includes reaching the CEBL Championship game in the league's inaugural season in 2019, winning the 2022 CEBL Championship and earning a berth to Championship Weekend in three-of-five seasons to date. Rosters across the team's history have been awarded eight All-Star placements, two Canadian Players of the Year, two Clutch Players of the Year, and one Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year apiece. The franchise has had staff or players affiliated with 22 of the 30 NBA teams, and 65 players have gone on to sign pro contracts following their season with the Honey Badgers. Lindell Wigginton became the first Canadian CEBL player to sign an NBA contract (Milwaukee) after playing in the league in 2021.

Located at the intersections of Kennedy Road, the 407, and the 410 Highway, the CAA Centre is one of the busiest and most versatile all-season sports and entertainment complexes in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The 5,000-seat multipurpose arena, which opened in 1998 and has previously hosted professional hockey, basketball, lacrosse, and more, replaced the Honey Badgers' former home at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. The CAA Centre features a full-service 250-seat restaurant that overlooks the three community rinks. Over 1.2 million people visit the CAA Centre each year.

    Absolutely LOVE seeing live CEBL games. Probably eve more than NBA tbh. The vibe is incredible every time and the players ball out every single game. So happy Canada has its own league finally.
