Wanda Sykes has been deemed one of the funniest stand up comics by her peers and ranks among Entertainment Weekly's 25 Funniest People in America.

Sykes was seen on several television shows over the past two years.   This year she made a return to HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” starring opposite Larry David.   In 2010 she starred on her own late night talk show on FOX, “The Wanda Sykes Show”.    In October of 2009 her second HBO stand up special “I’ma Be Me” premiered.  It was taped at the Warner theatre in Washington DC where she tackled topics like the first black president, gay cruises, being a new mom and aging.   The special was nominated for two 2010 Primetime Emmy awards: Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special and Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special.

This July she can be heard in the animated feature “Ice Age: Continental Drift” as ‘Granny.’  In 2010 she was heard in the Fox animated feature “Rio” as ‘the Goose.’

Her first HBO comedy special “Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired” debuted in October 2006 and was nominated for a 2007 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special.  It was taped in Seattle and covered everything from racial profiling to gay marriage.

Sykes was seen in the feature films “Evan Almighty,” the sequel to “Bruce Almighty,” in which she co-starred with Steve Carell, the New Line feature “Monster-In-Law” starring opposite Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda, and was heard in the animated feature “Over the Hedge” for Dreamworks as well as “The Barnyard” for Paramount Pictures.   She can also be seen co-starring with Luke Wilson and Uma Thurman in the romantic comedy “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.”  Sykes starred and produced the Comedy Central show "Wanda Does It" where she tried various non-showbiz jobs.  Her first book titled Yeah, I Said It, published by Simon & Schuster, hit bookstores in September 2004.  Yeah, I Said It is a hilarious collection of essays touching on life, family and current events.

In the fall of 2003 she was seen on Fox's "Wanda at Large" which she wrote, produced and starred in. She also has a one hour Comedy Central special called "Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied".  In addition, she can be seen on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" or heard on Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers” as the voice of Gladys Murphy.

Wanda was born in Portsmouth, VA and raised in Maryland.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University. Her stand-up career began at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, DC where she performed for the first time in front of a live audience.

She spent 5 years as part of HBO's critically acclaimed "Chris Rock Show." As a performer and writer on the show, she was nominated for three Primetime Emmys and in 1999 won the Emmy for "Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special."  In 2001, she won the American Comedy Award for "Outstanding Female Stand Up Comic".  She won three more Emmys, in 2002, 2004 and 2005 , for her work on “Inside the NFL” for Outstanding Studio Show - Weekly- Inside The NFL.

In 2010 she won a GLAAD award for promoting equal rights for gays and lesbians in the media.

    Wanda Was Amazing!

Wanda is hilarious. I highly recommend seeing her if you have the chance. This venue on the other hand.... not so much.

    The venue was a nightmare

by It wasn't Wanda on 3/24/23Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - Ridgefield

This was our 1st visit to Ilani Casino's showroom. The line was massive, for assigned seats. The reason was that they made us all put our phones and even smart watches into locked bags. They then had to write everyone's seat number on a piece of paper. So stupid. Then we get in there at it's basically a big conference room with 1000 tiny chairs packed together. My seat was so far from the stage and behind a big guy. I could see nothing. They had monitors so you could watch which begged the question, why are we not watching Wanda from the comfort of our home? We left. Terrible experience and we had so looked forward to seeing her in person. Boo.

    Funny!

by 2X sports mom on 3/21/23Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - Ridgefield

It was a great show, I found it interesting taking political issues and views and making them funny. I was not expecting to have my phone and fitbit locked during the show. Would have been helpful to have it on the ticketing information.

Best show in a long time

by Skip on 3/21/23Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - Ridgefield

Wanda came out and did a solid hour and 15 minutes, killing it. Everyone lost it when she said, "If you have a problem with trans in the library but you're banning books? Until a trans comes into a library and beats a kid with a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird, we don't have a problem!"

    Crying with laughter

by NB on 3/21/23Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - Ridgefield

Wanda Sykes is a treasure! Her delivery, physicality, and thought-provoking comedy was so entertaining. My only complaint about the evening was that so many audience members came in late. I don’t know if it was because of the security checks or waiting in bar lines, but they trickled in for at least a half hour after the show began.

ilani does not know how to put on an event..!! Worst ever.!

by John on 3/21/23Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - Ridgefield

Our group of four arrived an hour before the show, but the doors did not open until 30 minutes before the start time of 8:00 PM. We waited in a line that ran from the showroom along the perimeter of the casino all the way to the main front doors. We finally arrived at the doors at 8:30 only to be greeted by people who placed our phones in a locked pouch.. (This took some time as well).... Then we pass a security guard that was checking some people with a wand and others just walked right by him.... Once inside there wasn't many people helping us find our seats, so there was a lot of confusion going on while the warm-up comedian was performing.. which by the way, due to the late opening of the doors, we only caught the last 15 minutes of his act.. Once we finally found our seats, the actual show including Wanda was hilarious.. She is such a great performer and had us in stiches the entire time.. Overall, the experience was a let down other than Wanda.. We have been to many events in and around Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas and Los Angeles and this venue was by far, hands down the worst..

    Not so great

by Krystal on 3/21/23Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - Ridgefield

First of all the gathering up of all the phones knowing it would be a hassle to get it back. The new theatre is nice, but I couldn't see Wanda at all on the stage because a tall man sat in front of me. I had to watch her on the screens. I was disappointed in the pre show presentation. Wanda's show was not as clever and funny as I imagined it would be. No one around me was laughing much. Over all it was a neutral performance. Then there was the line up of people to retrieve our phones.
