MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME IN CONCERT:
Longtime Prince collaborator and fulltime smooth Morris Day is one of the most swaggering and peacockish funk performers to hit the stage since the Purple One himself. As the frontman of the Time, the charismatic Day built a serious name for himself in the ‘80s with his colorful showmanship, introducing international audiences to his slick stage presence in musical films like Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge. Whether he’s preening on jams like “The Bird” or leading call and response on classics like “Jungle Love,” Day is nothing if not a consummate showman, and fans can expect him to pull out all the stops on tour with the Time in 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Minneapolis in 1981, the Time was the brainchild of Prince, who put the group together as an outlet for his funkier leanings while he pursued other directions as a solo artist. Fronted by Morris Day and featuring a talented cast of players, the Time racked up a string of hits in the early ‘80s, gaining an additional popularity boost from their featured role in Prince’s classic 1984 rock musical Purple Rain. With hits like “Cool” and “Jerk Out,” Day and co. became one of the most successful groups to originate from Prince’s creative wellspring, and despite several splits and reunions, they’ve lost none of the funk that made them. The Time will let it all hang out once again in 2014 as they hit the road for a tour schedule that has them sharing bills with fellow greats Kool & the Gang and Chaka Khan.
The Time was fantastic at Bergen PAC Engelwood NJ. It was so much fun. One of the best concerts I ever attended. I hope Morris and Jellybean reads these posts. They are stars and deserve all the accolades. I can’t wait to see them again. One of my favorite bands of all time.
Morris Day & The Time put on a fantastic show ! Morris Day is still “COOL” and puts on a very high energy show, that had the crowd rockin ! He sang all of his hits and his band is still tremendous. This was our first time seeing an event at the Bergen Performing Arts Center and it’s a nice venue, with ample parking near and centrally located in the nice downtown Englewood section.
Morris Day's still got it! He gave an incredibly energetic performance. The audience wasn't as big as it should have been, but Morris and the band gave it their all!
Wow! Morris Day and The Time "brought it"!!! Alot of energy, great sound, overall good time. I didn't want the show to end!

At my big age of 50 attending a concert by Morris Day and The Time was nothing short of amazing!!! It was a solo experience for me that exploded my emotions. Morris Day took me back in time. Morris performance definitely delivered. When they say age is just a number IT IS!! Morris performed better than any twenty year old that I have seen. The show kept me engaged and screaming for more. Please don’t second guess attending if you find him coming to your surrounding area. The tribute to Prince sent my rocket ship to the moon!!! This by far hands down was the best concert I have attended and trust I have been to plenty. Morris I will be in the audience of one of your 2026 concerts……oh yeah I will be the loudest voice that you hear…signing off from Memphis, TN
Excellent performances all around! The opening act was After 7 and they looked and sung as great as they did in the 90's!! The personnel replacements were undetectable in their signature sound. We were pleasantly surprised. Then came Morris Day and the Time..... Morris is STILL quite the showman! His moves are still tight and he's flamboyant as ever! We were on our feet during most of the concert, singing along with Morris and the guys. One of the best concerts we've attended.
Morris Day and the Time were alright... wish they would have performed more of their hits, but After 7 stole the night, at least in my girlfriend's opinion. Also wished they would of had better pre-show entertainment. The volume of the pre-show music was also too low, compounding the fact that the show was late to start. I also deducted a star because the venue charged for parking, despite being "off strip"!
I've been a fan of Morris Day and The Time since I was 16 years old I was wearing Stacy's and then he was talking about wearing baggies always admired his style great band👍🏿
Enjoyed the concert. First time seeing After 7 and they did not disappoint. Morris Day put on a good show as well. Still have them smooth moves
