About

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jill Scott has long been number one to fans of neo soul, but it wasn’t until her fourth album, 2011’s The Light of the Sun, that she attained the No. 1 Billboard position to match. From the breakbeat of lead single “Shame (feat. Eve & The A Group)” to the laid-back groove of “Golden,” the album showcases her signature blend of soulful vocals and spoken word. Originally discovered by Questlove of The Roots during a live poetry reading, Scott would go on to release three studio albums – and earn three Grammys – in the 2000s, including Best Urban/Alternative performance for 2005 hit “Cross My Mind.” On tour in 2013, ticket buyers have been loving her commanding vocal performances and the throwback style of her live band.

    Digable Planets, Jill Scott

by Erica B on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

We traveled from Albuquerque to see this show. BART and the shuttle to the Concord Pavillion was the perfect way to go see the show. The performances were great but Digable Planets set was too short. Bathroom lines wwre long but they moved along fairly quickly. Would love to see q show at the Concord Pavillion again.

Much Better Experience This Time Around

by My on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Jill Scott was great! And so were the others (Digable Planets, SiR & DJ Premier). My only recommendation would be less breaks or shorter breaks in between artists. Also, since you had a DJ on the roster, have him fill in for the breaks in between artists. We didn't need a break, then have a whole slot for the DJ. He would have had 3-4 slots, and we wouldn't have had to be there from 5 pm to 11:30 pm. I sat on the lawn and this time it was great. The venue didn't oversell the lawn seats this time which was great because it was enough room to dance, walk through people's areas without intruding or stepping on their things, etc... And the lines were still long for everything (driving into the venue, parking, the line for the security check point, the line to check your tickets, the line for the food, drinks, bathrooms, etc...), but slightly less longer because they didn't oversell the venue. Very helpful! And it made for a much better, less overwhelming experience. My only recommendation would be to add an additional screen for the lawn section, especially since there was a large black apparatus blocking the screen from where I was sitting (I was sitting in the middle of the lawn).

Jill was absolutely wonderful, her opening acts not so much

by Linda on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Jill's opening acts after waiting for over an hour and a half for the show to start & freezing in the grass left much to be desired. The DJ 90% east coast rap. The singer sang too many songs. By the time Jill arrived on the stage we were freezing and there wasn't enough alcohol to warm us up. The fact that we were freezing took a lot from the show but I still wouldn't have missed it cuz it was Jill who I love.

    Why The Wait?

by Mimi R on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

We were very excited to see Jill Scott! We had to wait 3 years due to COVID. Arrived at the 6:00 concert and she did not come on until 9:45! There were two opening acts and 2 DJ segments. People were leaving before the show was even over. Very disrespectful to fans that paid hundreds of dollars to see her. Won't do it again.

    Who is Jill Scott

    by C.A. on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Despite the venue issues (and there were several 🤦🏾‍♀️) Jill Scott was AWESOME, AMAZING AND PHENOMENAL!! It was my first time seeing her LIVE. I was captivated by her style and grace! I only wish that she would have performed longer with more of her great hits!

    Great Show

by Connie on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Jill Scott, Sir, Digable planets, and the individual bands for the singers were all fantastic. The acoustics were on point. The setup to get to the show was very meh. We didn't see signs on where to go until we got into the venue. Outside the venue, as in figuring out what line you need to be in, understanding GA includes not just GA lawn seats but the purchased seats as well unless you buy a pass to jump to the front - overall was very confusing. Just saying, if live nation does not have the staff, a few little signs goes a long way!

    Great Show!

by Chris on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Jill put on an excellent performance! The only issue I had was that the tickets said that the show started at 6:30, but the first performer (SIR) didn't come on until 8:30! and Jill didn't come on until 9:45! That was ridiculous! We rushed to Concord to get there in time, only to wait for 2 hours!

by AB on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

    Excellent Experience

    by solomic101 on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Everything from the parking to the performance was amazing. I did purchase the premier parking pass, nor did we have to get in the line to check baggage, so my entry & exit times were no hastle. Jill Scott will be an artist I will make a point to attend any future dates she may have. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We had an excellent evening.

    Jill Scott

    by C. T. on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

Great show, she was in fine voice, tight band, great backing vocalists. Suggestion: Bring her without opening acts next time or bring her with a male vocalist like Anthony Hamilton. There were a lot of older folks who left upset at the wait for her to hit the stage and when it got cold in the venue, it was too much for some of them. Had there been a comparable vocalist, they would have stayed.

    Waited too damn long...

by BB on 6/27/23Concord Pavilion - Concord

The food lines were ridiculous at this venue. There were 3 performances, I missed one performance in the concessions line and almost missed the second performance waiting in line. My total waiting time was an hour and whats odd is the lines werent long, the concession stands weren't properly staffed or prepared for the busyness. The person taking the orders was also the person running to get the food. Whats worse is that there were other people standing around in the back waching but not helping the cashiers. Every order came out super slow at least 10-20mins waiting time after you ordered depending on what you ordered, it was a mess. Also, move the wine by the bottle concession out of the corner so people can see it clearly. Its a better deal to buy the wine by the bottle than to buy the individual cans, but they have the "wines by the bottle" concession stand at the end of the line so that when you walk to the concession area you might miss it and end up buying an individual can for $12 which is one glass and you could have bought the bottle for $38. There were like 10 alcohol lines and only 1 of them was selling wine by the bottle (rest selling small cans). The show was amazing, shows are always amazing there. Just get the concessions together yall, Shoreline has it figured out and its literally the same venue and hour away.
