Denver Nuggets History
One of the founding teams of the American Basketball Association in 1967, the Denver Nuggets franchise was originally known as the Denver Rockets. They preemptively changed their name to the Nuggets before the 1974–75 season, anticipating a move to the NBA (where Houston’s team already had the name). In their nine ABA seasons, the Nuggets made the playoffs seven times — losing in the finals to the New York Nets in the league's final year.
They were one of four ABA teams annexed to the NBA in 1976 and immediately were one of the most successful teams, winning the Midwest Division two straight years behind future Hall of Famers David Thompson and Dan Issel. In 1980, the arrival of another future Hall of Famer, high-scoring forward Alex English, began a run of nine consecutive seasons in the playoffs. Coach Doug Moe's offensive-minded squads made it past the first round of the playoffs four times, falling three times in the conference semifinals and once in the conference finals, in 1985 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team had only one winning season in the 1990s, but it was a memorable one. After finishing 42-40 to sneak into the playoffs as the eighth seed in the 1993–94 season, they upset the top-seed Seattle Supersonics in the first round of the playoffs, thanks in no small part to center Dikembe Mutombo's heroics.
Led by 2003 first-round draft pick Carmelo Anthony, the Nuggets reversed their fortunes to post 10 straight winning seasons beginning with the 2003–04 season. The Nuggets won their first NBA championship in 2023, led by two-time league MVP and Finals MVP Nikola Jokić.

Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena
The Nuggets play their home games at Ball Arena, which is a short walk from historic Larimer Square in bustling downtown Denver. The venue, with its sculpture-laden Grand Atrium, opened in 1999 as part of the city's six-year boom in sporting venues, which included new football and baseball facilities.
The venue replaced the venerable McNichols Sports Arena, which the Nuggets called home for more than two decades.
The Denver Nuggets’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Nuggets face the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets play their final game of the regular season at FedExForum in Memphis against Western Conference opponents the Memphis Grizzlies. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

Season tickets are sold out for the Nuggets’ 2023–24 regular season, however, fans can find partial-season ticket plans or apply for the Nuggets Next waitlist program via the team’s website.

There are lots of people all over Colorado who love the Nuggets! Many can't make the long trek to Denver, afford the tickets to a game, parking fees and the cost of having to stay the night as well, if they live very far away. SO, I was super excited and thankful that the Nuggets held this event for fans to attend for free. The parking was free and easily accessible as well! The festivities at the open practice were fun and funny! (the players awful karaoke singing!) 😅 I got to sit close enough that I could actually make out the faces of the players! DeAndre Jordan is so friendly, fun, and funny! He and honestly almost all the players seemed to have a blast and they seemed to be truly thankful to the fans who attended! Some of us "poorer"folks are the biggest fans!!! I also appreciated that it was held at 12:30 on a Saturday, so it was an easy in, easy out. Traffic wasn't too bad and I drove there and back in the daylight. (This is good for older fans who don't see that well at night.) 😜 My grandson and daughter came with me and they also had a wonderful time! Thank you, thank you, for hosting this great event!!
getting to ball arena and seeing a nuggets game is an absolute must if you’re in Denver, one of the most fun sporting events you can experience!!! the crowd is always so electric and friendly, great food and drink selection and just so much fun!!
Great experience at the Nuggets game !! Nothing short of amazing. Dope camaraderie among fans all combined to make it an unforgettable event. It reminded me why sports have the power to bring people together and create such incredible memories. Let’s go Nuggets !! Two-peat !!
Aside from Ball Arena not being able to handle venue entry and people waiting in line outside for an hour, the event was great, as always. The boys singing karaoke was super entertaining.
It was awesome to see the team practice and even better seeing the trophy in person!!

It was a very funny event they tried it like a really game
I been watching the Denver Rockets/Nuggets since 1967 ABA days at the Auditorium Arena downtown.in 1969 we got Spencer Haywood. Fresh from the olympics.where he led USA to the gold medal.my mom rest her soul got me two season tickets. I was 15 years old. I went to the first ABA all star game the Nuggets hosted.and invented the slam dunk contest. Went to both NBA all star games.But never ever ever been to a NUGGETS Championship party like Saturday. I’ve been waiting 56 years for this. I sat way up high and just took it all in.and some tears came to my eyes.THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH… GO NUGGETS…

What a great event! Brought my son for his first “game” / practice, he was so excited to watch the players and meet Rocky. I was surprised when Jamal Murray ran into the stands to high five fans, my son included.
I loved seeing Joker and Jamal coach. The players seemed to be having as good a time as we fans. Hope they do this every year!!
We had a great time at the Nuggets open practice! Every one was having a great time and the players seemed to enjoy interacting with the fans! My only complaint was that the music was WAY too loud!! Obviously loud music comes with the territory, but this was extreme.
We had a blast watching a preseason game!!! The entire organization from the team, Rocky, cheerleaders and drum line were awesome! Looking forward to an even better season!

The lower section of the baseline has a very small slope to it, so people in front of you will often block your view. Especially if they are tall. Made the seats a lot less desirable, but it was still a very fun experience to be at the game
Even up on the 3rd level this was an amazing experience. My only criticisms are concerning the $55 parking and the very disappointing brisket sandwich (too greasy to eat)...otherwise a fabulous time!!!
