About

MODEST MOUSE IN CONCERT:

Indie rock veterans Modest Mouse enjoy a level of mainstream success that few other indie acts can touch. While the band's intelligent lyrics and expertly crafted songs made them critical darlings in the early '00s, their eclectic live shows earned them legions of fans. With their first new album in five years due out in 2014, Modest Mouse are gearing up for headlining slots at the Boston Calling and Shaky Knees music festivals. Fans lucky enough to catch the band at these rare appearances will be among the first to hear material from the new album — performed alongside all of their greatest hits, of course.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Washington in 1993, Modest Mouse found an early home on legendary indie labels K Records and Sub Pop. After moving to Up Records for their 1996 debut full-length, the band achieved breakthrough success with 1997's Lonesome Crowded West, which drew praise from critics and earned them a cult following. While 2000's The Moon & Antarctica was another success, it was 2004's Good News for People Who Love Bad News that really broke things wide open — the album went multi-platinum and brought the band their first chart exposure with hit singles "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty." In 2007, the band's fifth studio album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, effectively rendering their indie status null and securing their position as a festival headline-caliber act.

Previously, Modest Mouse has sold out venues to capacity, like Tabernacle and the Rose Bowl.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"They were honestly amazing. They played with so much energy, played about 20 songs, and absolutely tore the place down. A must see if you get a chance."

"The sounds, the lights, and the crowd were unbelievable. Isaac really blows your mind, his beautiful music and lyrics had the entire crowd swaying with their eyes closed. It was an event I will never forget..."

"Modest Mouse put on an amazing show. Every song sounded even better than the studio version."

    Show was great despite Ticketmaster

by Cowboy Dan on 12/10/22South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Band was great, lonesome crowded west was one of my favorite albums growing up. The venue was fine, sound was great. The only annoying part was having to deal with Ticketmaster

    Amazing show!

    by BrandonH on 12/10/22

Saw Modest Mouse twice this year. First time seeing them was for the Golden Casket tour. They put on a great show at the Tulsa Theatre in Tulsa, OK. Honestly played a wishlist of songs for me, and they sounded good and the crowd was energized. Just saw them again at the Southside Ballroom in Dallas, TX for their 25th Lonesome Crowded West tour. It was incredible. They sounded great and the crowd was packed. I'd say it was even better than the first tour. If you have a chance to see them, you should definitely go!

    Lackluster

by M on 12/10/22South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Overall the show was boring and it felt like they were just going through the motions. There was no energy or passion. The light show was bad and was too busy in a non tasteful way that didn't compliment the music. The show was oversold and too packed. The stage is too low.

    Modest Mouse WAS BRILLIANT

by Eri on 12/10/22South Side Ballroom - Dallas

This is the best concert and best performance I’ve ever attended and I’ve attended stadium shows for HUGE rock bands and singers. MODEST MOUSE beat them all with their energy, the VIP experience was unlike anything ever and they deserve so much success and continued support! There were all ages enjoying their show and it took me back to 1997 and I felt like a teenager again! They sound incredible in a live venue from the lead singer to the drummer and guitarists! Amazing experience! Fan for life!!!

They absolutely rocked. I’m tempted to fly to their next show, regardless of wherever it might be. An amazing night.

    Lonesome Crowded West

by Ash on 12/10/22South Side Ballroom - Dallas

The show was really great. I loved listening to them play an album through. LCW had a big impact on me and my taste in music. Isaac Brock is forever one of my favorite musicians.

Great show. Wish they’d played their songs instead of 2 flaming lips covers

    Excellent

by a. S. on 12/9/22Fillmore New Orleans - New Orleans

I've said it before and it is worth saying again. This is the best venue for live shows. Security team cares for the safety and wellbeing of the fans and the venue is always wonderful.

It was a nice flashback to a couple decades ago.

by Jimmyjames on 12/9/22Fillmore New Orleans - New Orleans

I've been going to MM shows since the late 90s. From small, intimate venues to large amphitheaters. The music was awesome, the nostalgic feeling of hearing ' lonesome, crowded, West " made me happy. However i feel like something was missing. The connection with the crowd, that raw energy wasn't there. I really enjoyed it. Seeing them live again was great... i guess i just miss when the band enjoyed playing more than the fans enjoyed listening.

    Good, but disappointed

by PowerSongs on 12/8/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Vocals were struggling in the mix invariably throughout the performance. The band chose to play only very early songs and played one album in its entirety. I brought my 21 year old son, who knows most of the songs from the last 6 albums, but as we waited for any of them, there were none played. Venue was nice, our seats gave a nice view,

Left 5 songs in. Sounded like they mumbled the whole time and hummed the lyrics

Holy cow - there's no words that could describe this experience. Greatest band ever playing the greatest album ever from start to finish w intensity like I've never experienced. I will truly never be the same again.

    Phenomenal show!

by Casey on 12/6/22The Van Buren - Phoenix

The sound was on point, drink line was fast, I found parking nearby and had fun at the show. Isaac Brock and the band played Lonesome Crowded west in order and the show was electric. Cant wait to see my other favorite bands at this theater next time they come around.

    Amazing show!

by EggsOchoa on 12/6/22The Van Buren - Phoenix

It was a blast to see and hear every member of the audience chanting along to every song. Truly one of the seminal albums of my life. I’m still giddy that I was able to hear it okayed in its entirety by the band.

Modest Mouse at the Van Buren

by Jules on 12/6/22The Van Buren - Phoenix

Great show! MM sounded great and rocked! My only complaint is that drinks are way too pricey at the Van Buren.

    Damn good!

by Goseelivemusic on 12/5/22The Observatory North Park - San Diego

I don't know Modest Mouses catelog, just a few songs from the radio, but when i saw they were to perform at the Observatory, i jumped. It was one of the better jumps I've made! Opening act was silly and very entertaining. Then Modest comes out and just straight rocked! Sort of a short set, but encore was fantastic. Great musicians, great songs, really grooved and some of those songs were rocking so hard! I'd see them again in a heart beat. Love the small venues, great sound, intimate setting. If they come near your town, go! You wont be disappointed. Peace!

    Worst lineup and opener

by Traver on 12/4/22Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

The opener seemed highly under the influence and rambling about nothing. I love Modest Mouse. I could listen to 12-15 songs without skipping a beat. Not one of those songs were played. The biggest hit, with 300M listens on Spotify wouldn’t even played. I was disappointed with the show to say the least. The Fox Theater was nice but parking was scarce. I will opt for public transportation next time.
