The Queen of Funk has no equal: Chaka Khan is, indeed, a living legend. Her live performances are energetic histories of her four-decade long career in music -- from her funk days through her jazz and R&B heydays. Her profound voice carries her fans "Through the Fire," and "Ain't Nobody" loves them better than Chaka. Although Chaka's appearances are less frequent than in her heyday, she delivered big at her 2013 shows, wowing fans and building excitement for her select dates in 2014. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Chicago-born Yvette Marie Stevens came up in rough South Side housing projects before she rose to fame under the name Chaka Khan. Her grandmother introduced her to jazz music at an early age and instilled a life-long love of the genre. As she grew up, she bounced around all-girl singing groups and small bands before joining the Black Panthers and changing her name. While performing in a local band in 1972, she was poached by a new group called Rufus, and with her at the lead, the group signed a major contract with ABC Records just a year later. After several years with Rufus, she proved to be just as talented on her own with the 1978 solo debut Chaka, featuring the ubiquitous hit âIâm Every Womanâ. All said and done, she has won ten Grammys and sold over 200 million records worldwide.

Love love chaka, been waiting for years to catch show, caught her act in LA last year tha bomb, but this year at fair although the show was awesome she did not performed all the well loved hits, like chaka khan chaka khan let me love you, my faveđstill a fan and will continue to support her please Chaka sing all the favorites.
The concert was great! The seating was a little confusing, and no one seemed to know exactly where my seats were. We had fun though
first the negative.. for some reason at the Pomona fair grounds, the concerts are not loud enough. Everyone should hear Chaka Chan sing every note of "I'm Every Woman" totally uplifting and inspiring. Unfortunately, the stadium sound just doesn't penetrate as it should. Still, for opportunity, location and price, It is well worth it! now the positive.. totally Loved Chaka Khan and George Benson. All Chaka's back up singers and band "Gave Us Something Good!" They truly honored this Fair's concert goers. same with John Fogherty! the solo with his son was AMAZING! The conversation he gave was so kind, earthy, like friendship conversation. Most evident to me was how humble, genuine, Oneness with the audience all these artist and bands demonstrated. They are amazing global talented superstars, yet they were approachable, giving, and fun. No arrogance whatsoever. We had box seats and bleacher seats and the performances were well worth the steps . Also, I appreciated the security and limited sale of alcohol. it wasn't easy to become inebriated and this kept the whole experience fun for all. I was astonished by George Benson's ability to sing every line with passion and meaning.. he showed us again what it is to be not a performer but one who shares the language of song. I loved the size of the venue. I loved our seats. And the music was very good. Loved her voice. She is truly unique, I am so glad she did a concert so close to my area. Wish you would bring more old times. This today music donât have what it takes to be a true artist. She is one of a kind.
Chaka Khan was magnificent ! Her voice is just as strong as 30 years ago. She hit and held every note of every song. A true professional that has stood the test of time.
Awful she was late left the stage for 10 min and only 5 songs sang. Not worth the money
What a nice concert !!! Chaka Khan and George Benson did not disappoint, they brought the soul and also amazing music. The crowd was great, we were all singing and taking selfies, it was a great nite !!
The show was shorter than normally, because she had an opening act. George Benson was great. Chaka isn't referred to as the Queen of Funk for nothing. She killed it. Vocal supremacy proud to be a Khannoisseur
Attended an amazing show at Ballyâs Twin Rivers in Rhode Island in an intimate ballroom at the casino. Chaka was gorgeous- beautiful trademark hair flowing, stunning outfit and she looked more fit than ever! She gave 110% with her beautiful powerful voice and her charming audience interaction. I was lucky enough to be right up front, stage left! Chaka covered a wide variety of Rufus and also solo 80âs music. She was gracious and provided multiple encores. I am following her tour schedule because I would definitely attend another one of her shows if she plays a theater within a few hours drive- totally worth the trip!!
Chaka was amazing. Voice still sounds like the album at 69 years old! I've been wanting to see her in person so i jumped at the chance when i saw the concert date. Perfect venue... great show
Chaka Khan's concert was more than I expected. She was energized from beginning to end. I would be remised if I did not give acknowledgment to the Three Backup Singers and the Band. Chaka would be nothing without their input on this night's performance. I really enjoyed her Tribute to Legend. It was his birthday. Chaka could not have been more gracious. Chaka gave us a magical night, and her band and background singers were amazing. I just wished that she would have performed for at least 2 hrs, not 1 1/2 with a 15 min break.
Chaka Khan was the first artist I saw in concert when I was in High School. I took my 15 yr. old who loved it. Chaka was his first concert too! Great music moves all generations.
Chaka Kahn, an iconic singer and entertainer! She and her band had the audience on their feet right from the first song. Great song selections from the beginning of her career to present. One of the best concerts we have seen in years!
Chaka Kahn gave a legendary performance. He voice was just as clear as I remember it some 40 years ago. Her bandmates and backup singers were fantastic.
Over amplified and so loud could not hear the songer or understand the words. Chaka just screamed the songs and most were badly performed So bad we left after 45 minutes with ears ringing.
She still has that Big Voice!!! 1st time seeing a show at this venue - very nice and intimate. Sadly, she wasn't on stage for more than maybe an hour and 10 minutes which surprised me a bit. That was the only disappointment. I'm still glad we went.
