He essentially stood and read an essay he wrote. I'm new to John Waters fan, and I respect him as a total icon. But I'd rather have read the essay myself at home. Not for me, but I hope everyone else enjoys themselves!
I was literally rolling on the floor. I couldn't catch my breath. John is and will always be a cult hero in my book.
John Waters gave a very funny and insightful performance at Sound Stage. It's always enjoyable to hear his take on current events. Having seen most of his movies, it's also fun to get background information about them from him. The Q&A at the end was also great. The Sound Stage is an excellent place to see John Waters with all seats being good.
This is the third year my husband and me have had a date with John Waters. He is amazing. So funny and entertaining. I especially love his Q & A with the audience and then the group therapy is great. John’s staff and the staff at sound stage were so pleasant. We will be back for a fourth year.
As always, Mr. Waters was kind, genteel, honest, and forthcoming about himself, his views on life, and the quite colorful life that he has led. What a way to spend Valentine's Day! Many thanks, Mr. Waters, for an unforgettable evening.
Once again JW brought his humor and fun view of life to a packed room of worshipers. I have seen him many times before and really enjoyed this venue. The pre show cocktail hour and people watching was as fun as the show. It is always interesting to be in a room where you know you can walk up to anyone and KNOW you have something special in common. Back to John - great new material. Stays relevant even on his 77th birthday. Looking forward to the 88th bday show! ❤️
He reminds us of how much fun it is when you don’t believe in hell, but you still have a functioning moral compass. Listening to John Waters is so refreshing, you are able to escape the staid strictures of regular society and float in the rare atmosphere of his uncompromising views on ..everything. He doesn’t work at being hilarious, it comes naturally. Enjoy the ride, it’s an “E ticket” for sure!
John Waters was still as whip-smart and quick-witted as ever and I loved every word that came out of his filth elder mouth. His brand of humor never ceases to entertain and I fell in love with all of his films all over again in watching him perform. I’ll join his cult any day!!
You get an hour of thoughts and rants from John Waters that will make you laugh, cringe, and maybe cry just a little. He has a unique perspective on the world and a true love of Baltimore. And the best part is at the end of each show he brings up the lights and answers questions from the crowd. He appreciates his fans and wants them to know it.
Waters talked nonstop for 75 minutes then took 45 minutes of questions. He is amazing. I learned a lot about one of the most important, talented, and controversial social critics of our time. Plus I laughed a lot!
