About

Dave Matthews Band in Concert

With a career spanning more than 27 years, Dave Matthews Band is one of the most influential bands in rock history. In 1991, vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape and sought the assistance of drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville, VA music scene. 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard came on board shortly thereafter. Their infectious, distinctive sound garnered lots of early attention and a die-hard loyal fan base, catapulting the band into one of the most successful touring acts of the past three decades.

The group has since released nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, selling a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined since the 1994 release of its major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming. The GRAMMY®-winning band's many hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me," "Too Much," "Everyday," "American Baby," "Funny The Way It Is," "Mercy" and "Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)."

Founding member LeRoi Moore passed away in August of 2008 and the band paid tribute to him with 2009's Platinum-certified Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. Dave Matthews Band has since welcomed longtime collaborators/touring musicians Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Rashawn Ross (horns) and Tim Reynolds (guitar) into the lineup and - most recently - keyboardist Buddy Strong.

With 2018's Come Tomorrow, Dave Matthews Band became the first group in history to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In a Critic's Pick review, The New York Times observed, "willed optimism fills the songs on 'Come Tomorrow,' while cynicism and irony are nowhere within earshot... each song notes the fears and sorrows it's determined to overcome. The music does that, with consolation in its melodies and a life force in its rhythms."

Renowned for their live performances, Dave Matthews Band has sold over 24 million tickets since its inception and ranked as the biggest ticket seller worldwide of the past decade. The group's Bama Works Fund, established in 1999, has raised more than $52 million dollars for humanitarian and environmental initiatives.

  • There is no longer a lawn GA

    by Fan 1 on 9/16/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 1 out of 5

There was no lawn section anymore! Every spot was filled with lawn chairs and the new deck took out the best seats for the show. Especially when AAA was giving free ones out to attendees and not even checking for membership. SMH

  • This was the best

I've seen DMB several times, for me this was the best show to date. The Gorge is always a great venue

  • Great concert and venue, with a few complaints

by SueBee on 9/8/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

You can no longer bring in your own chairs; you have to rent them from the venue for $20+ each. If you don't pre-order them, your chances of getting one are minimal. The general seating on the lawn seems to get more packed each year. The prices for food and drink are ridiculous, but that seems to be universal for all venues. The overnight tent camping positives: they seem to have gotten the process down for entering the campground in a timely manner, the portable toilets and trash cans were cleaned on a regular basis, and the sites were large enough to accommodate a vehicle and a canopy. The negative: the quiet hours are supposed to be strictly enforced, but I didn't actually see any attendants going around the grounds in the evening. The people behind us ran their generator most of the night and the exhaust blew into our tents. My husband's tent was on the ground, so he was able to move to the other side of the site, but my tent was set up in the back of our truck and you aren't allowed to move your vehicle. The tent in the site beside ours suffered the same fate. I was able to get cross ventilation by unzipping all the windows in my tent, but that meant I had wind blowing through it a good portion of the night.

  • Love Labor Dave Weekend!

by Gingergirl on 9/7/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

We have been coming to this event for years. Beautiful venue, amazing music! We were disappointed with the new VIP seating area that blocks the view from the deck bar and takes up a good chunk of GA grass seating. It's an eye sore and seems like just another way for ticketmaster to get more money when we are already paying plenty. We love the camping experience with this event, but prices almost doubled this year. Ticketmaster can do better to make this a more affordable event for all. We know many that could not afford to attend this year.

  • Bucket List Dream

    by GmoneyA1 on 9/6/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing all 3 shows at the Gorge was on my wife and I’s bucket list. We finally made it and we had big expectations! Dave came through and exceeded expectations. Night 2 was a historic set and I can’t believe we were there for it. I will never forget it. Thanks to the band and all of the amazing fellow fans who we shared this with.

  • Music = AMAZING. Venue = Not What it Once Was

by TheDreamingTreeHasDied on 9/5/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

To be clear, the 4-star rating is inflated by the band, the music, and the venue staff. The venue itself is sadly not what it once was, and on its own would get between one and two stars. DMB was amazing, as always. The Gorge, some good, some really not good. Sound was good, staff were great, expecially merch booth staff. The bad stuff is bad and getting worse. The lawn on Friday and Sunday *looked* packed. Saturday, the lawn was actually more than packed. Why? The new "Sunset Deck"took up a huge portion of the lower lawn that used to be available for lawn seating. Some of us loved that lower lawn and sat there every year for the past decade or more. This new deck makes that impossible. It forces 90% of the people who used to sit there over onto the terraces and giant slope. It is also an eye-sore that takes away from the panoramic view from the top of the hill during the day. At night during the show, it's a pink and blue glowing distraction that detracts from the main stage. Please, please, please, get rid of the d@mn thing. Please, please, please. Give us our lower lawn back. As for the reserved seating areas, the pre-school sized chairs leave no room between you and the people on either side of you whether you're 120lbs or 250lbs. You pretty much have to alternate one person slightly forward, the next slightly back, the next slightly forward, and so on. Even at that, don't expect to have any room to dance. Even with all the negatives, the Gorge is still my home venue and my favorite place to gather with chosen family to watch amazing music. I just wish they'd stop with all the money-grab garbage.

  • Amazing but…

by Tripping Nancie on 9/5/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

The bands were 100% amazing! The venue not so much- The new Sun Deck is unattractive and unfitting to the natural aspect of the venue. I feel it led to overcrowding on other areas of the lawn. Glow sticks- this is the only venue where I encounter glow sticks being the thrown in the crowd all night. Having glowsticks land in the ADA section walkways, could potentially lead to injury and financial implications for the venue.

  • First Concert At The GORGE

by Todd on 9/4/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

First concert at the Gorge. Easy ticket purchase. Easy entry parking. Convenient toilets garbage recycle bins everywhere. Met so many nice people especially in the parking area. Venue setting was stunning. Dave Matthews Band was so entertaining and musical. Exceeded expectations. Can't wait to go back for another concert.

  • As usual DMB crushes it at the gorge

by Brad on 9/4/25Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

DMB concert was incredible. No more bringing chairs into the Gorge with general admission . Food and alcohol prices in the venue are over the top
