BEST show we've ever seen. Singers were OUTSTANDING!!!
I took my 13 year old daughter to see Dirty Dancing. She had never seen the movie. She loved it. I liked that it was true to the movie. They did a really good job with the stage and scenery. The singers were excellent. Would love to see it a second time.
Absolutely wonderful. Dancing and singing were great. The end of the musical was different from the movie, but it still did not take away from being a great show overall.
The music and songs of 1963 were great to hear them played again and see how graceful the cast was able to dance to these tones. The singing was incredible by both talented artists. The set design was different and vary humorous at times, but great. This was well worth seeing.
They missed the boat. Great singers that didn't sing enough, wonderful dancers that didn't dance enough. It was like sitting through a high school play without having a kid in it. I was embarrassed to watch it. Almost felt like a spoof. Not sure why others rave about it.
Baby didn't sing, but she sure could dance! And no one put her in the corner! Great show!
the soloist, Doug Carpenter and Jennlee Shallow were just outstanding. Their powerful voices and deep feeling when singing touches one's very soul. Mr. Carpenter's performance while standing at the top of the stairs was so moving the entire audience was clapping and wanting to stand up. The dancing in the second ACT got everyone to their feet. It was such a happy moment and I thank all the performers for the joy and happiness they conveyed to the audience.
Took my daughter and granddaughter to the performance expecting to see a fun, campy interpretation of the well-loved movie. But left feeling very disappointed. There were too many elements that were not succinct with the story. Focused far too much on political messages and statements. Abortion issued addressed as a monetary factor instead of a society issue considering that this was 1963. Multi-purposed the actors to the point of confusion. And, what was the purpose of the profanity? It served no purpose. There was no chemistry between Johnny & Baby. It seemed as though little vignettes were added, but I did not find them entertaining....the 60 something man thrusting his pelvis. Maybe it would have been carried off better in context.
First on a positive note.... Seats were great. Theater was beautiful. The actress playing Lisa, was on point. She did a fantastic job. The number she did at the end, was amazing and so Lisa!! The actor playing Johnny was on point too, his dancing, attitude, even the sound of his voice. Awesome job!! Main male singer, had a power amazing voice. However, the not so positive note..... the actress playing Baby, her presents on stage lacked, her delivery of her lines were way off. Their was no sparks between her and Johnny. It was disappointing. Also the main female singer, her voice was powerful and beautiful, however during the softer parts of the song, I could barely hear her... not sure if her mic was cutting off or the sounds guys turned the volume down to much on her mic or if she kept messing up.... either way, it was distracting. Overall I'd give it an OK rating... wasn't blown away, but wasn't terrible either. Luckily I got a good deal on the tickets too....
What a wonderful show! I am so glad I was able to enjoy such a terrific show with the girls in the family. All of us know the movie like the back of our hand and the show was about SPOT ON -- including the VOICES of the cast! The dancing, singing, acting was all AMAZING! It's a MUST-SEE if you are a Dirty Dancing fanatic!! (Ps it was quite funny too -- they did a good job of adding humor to the show)
If you didn't see the movie you would not get the jist of the show. Very slow production value. Also, there was a big screen in the background, so it was like watching TV. All the props were out of proportion. I initially thought it would bring me back 20 years to the movie, but it never hit the spot.
My husband and I went and really enjoyed the show. The music sounded good with all the scenes. Johnny Castle looked like a young Patrick Swayze while "Baby" character at first looked older than the Jennifer Gray character and then I got used to her. By the end I felt I was at Kellerman's and felt emotional for the characters problems. Overall it was a feel good presentation of the movie version on stage.
The production was just like the movie, with the exception of a couple of parts. It was great!
As a musical, Dirty Dancing has little to offer over the movie version, so no real value-added to becoming a stage production. That said, the staging brought back the era and the dancing was outstanding -- especially the male lead. The cast, crew, and musicians did the best they could with so-so material.
The musical was everything I expected and more. The set was exceptional! From the costumes to the lighting, everything was so captivating! The dancing was perfectly choreographed!
Slow start but ending was very uplifting. Singing and dancing was great.
Not a big fan of musicals but this one blew my mind... absolutely brilliant!
Dirty Dancing the movie became a cult classic and loved by most! The play captured it perfectly! Truly allow the emotions were captured. "No one puts Baby in a Corner!" As expected as it is, still brought the crowd to climax! What a great combination of dancing, song, and story! Thank you for exceeding my expectations!
It didn't feel like you were at a Broadway Show but a High School Play. The two individuals that sung were excellent but other than that not impressed.
