About

Based on actual events, when a young Vincent Van Gogh arrives in Brixton, England, he falls in love with a beautiful young woman carrying a cup of tea. Her mother has a room for rent. Vincent's journey of self discovery begins as the artist finds inspiration from his landlady, her daughter and a fellow boarder, a struggling artist who sees beauty in every day objects. This is a house full of secrets and as Van Gogh begins to see things in new ways, his destructive nature takes hold.

Vincent in Brixton was intimate, superb

by Radnorrunner on 2/24/13Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

Vincent reminds you of what theatre can be. Staged in a single, fully functional kitchen, it appeals to every sense: the cooking smells good, the tea drinking feels as though the audience should pour a cuppa and the acting envelopes you like a family- full of spice with hints of darkness, history and intrigue. The play tells the story of Vincent Van Gogh's time in a boarding house outside London. He and fellow boarders begin by unknowingly competing for the attention of the beguiling Eugenie, and it rolls on from there. Along the way, eugenie's mother provides a rich character, evoking warmth, wisdom and a surprising edge. In short, don't miss this intimate portrayal of the passionate young Vincent.Great acting throughout.

I highly recommend Vincent in Brixton

by Anonymous on 2/22/13Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

I had never been to a play in the small theatre on the 3rd floor of the Walnut Street Theater. It was wonderful! It was the perfect setting for a play that takes place all in one room. Kudos to the Director for a job well done! The actors were excellent and sitting so close to the stage you truly feel a part of the performance. From the older experienced actors to the 23-year old Clare Mahoney who is debutting her professional acting career with her role as the daughter in this play, they were all excellent! I strongly recommend seeing this play. By the way, the Vincent in the play is Vincent van Gogh. It provides you an up close and personal glimpse into his life. It left me wanting to know more about his life!
