With ten No. 1 albums, more awards than you can shake a stick at, and fellow superstar Faith Hill by his side, Tim McGraw is country music royalty, enjoying a comfortable reign over the genre almost 25 years after his debut. Far from caught up in the trappings of his success, however, McGraw keeps it real for fans at his live shows, eschewing the razzle dazzle of big budget touring in favor of no-frills simplicity — a man, his guitar, and his songs. With his familiar voice and down-home charm, McGraw has launched some of the top-selling tours in music history, and his 2014 Soul2Soul residency with Faith Hill in Las Vegas is sure to be no different.
Born in Dehli, Louisiana, McGraw took up the guitar while in college on a baseball scholarship, writing and performing songs for tips. After his demos found their way to label execs, he dropped out of school, moved to Nashville, and released his 1993 self-titled debut. The album contained some minor hits, but it was 1994 sophomore effort Not a Moment Too Soon that really put him on the map, peaking at No.1 on the Billboard 200 and becoming the top-selling country album of the year. Kicking off a serious chart run, McGraw reached No. 1 with nine of his next ten albums, earning three Grammys and a host of country music awards for his solo work as well as collaborations with wife Faith Hill. In 2014 the pair reprises their work together with Soul2Soul, their highly anticipated residency at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
