THE HILLS ARE ALIVE! A brand new production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC is coming to Chicago. The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award® winning Best Score, including “My Favorite Things,”“Do-Re-Mi,”“Climb Ev’ry Mountain,”“Edelweiss” and the title song.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC enjoyed extraordinary success as the first live television production of a musical in over 50 years when “The Sound of Music Live!” aired on NBC in December, 2013 and was seen by over 44 million people. 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the film version, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.

Excellent cast including the children. Everyone had beautiful voices and did a great job acting. The orchestra was superb
Go and see it, Show your kids live theater. Broadway version slightly different from movie. Singers wonderful, kids fantastic, Climb Every Mountain goose bump city--wow!
Wonderful show with top notch vocals. The harmony of the children was incredible. Great adaptation of the movie.
what a feel good play and great cast. Mother Superior is stellar. The whole cast really was top notch. Made me laugh, cry - remember all the best of my childhood
This was a powerful performance of The Sound of Music. This has always been the favorite musical of both my wife and I, so we go to it any time it is in the Chicago area. The children in the show were especially strong performers. An excellent time!
The songs were fun. The singing was fair. The second scene the scenery used 3 huge swastica flags which we found very upsetting to see. Even our grandchildren were uncomfortable seeing . The whole back wall was covered with these flags. Not necessary and insensitive.
Seats were GREAT! Staff was Great! The Show was amazing. The kids were AWESOME!!! See this show!
Very well done and was just so amazing!! Would recommend for everyone to go see! It was so worth it!
Family friendly, enjoyable time. Our girls were excited to see the musical The Sound of Music. It was interesting to see how they performed the familiar songs in a slightly different way from the movie version.
