Rating: 5 out of 5Wonderful Experience - Venue, Production & People
by RWMKEM on 10/2/17Boston Opera House - BostonWe waited a few years for a production of Phantom so that we could bring our granddaughter to the theatre. We cannot say enough about the Boston Opera House - the building is a wonderful reminder of a grand age and its staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. (For instance, being invited off the sidewalk and into the foyer early to get you out of extreme heat / humidity.)
This version of Phantom had some interesting aspects - some of which were more 'Phantom lite' while still remaining true to the original story. One of the stars of this version was the main set which revolved and configured itself - transformer-like - into so many places used in the story. The voices in this production were all superb and and their owners captivated us with their passion. It does, though, amaze me how still the entire theatre becomes in those last few minutes of the play with only occasional sobs to be heard.
Lastly, I wish to say Thank you specifically to Ticketmaster for helping and allowing us to 'trade up' on such short notice to better seating. We ended up in the front center of the dress circle for a modest difference in ticket price. Having the chandelier dance just feet in front of us made the entire evening!
Bottom Line - my granddaughter can't wait to go again. We could not be happier.
