The Matches killed it! There wasn't a second where they looked or sounded like a band doing a reunion show. They were as athletic and tight as a bunch of 20 year olds with all the drive and hunger of newbies. Shawn made one great joke about them aging aging... then went on to surf the crowd while singing... in tune! Bravo!
The Matches Fillmore show was so amazing, as they always do, they had the crowd worked up into a lather. What a fan base they have, I ran into people who had traveled from New York and Chicago to attend. They put on one of the best live shows ever!
Shawn Harris, the lead singer, has a great voice and an unforgettable stage precense. The lead guitarist (Jonathan) is a great performer as well. Whether you listen(ed) to their music or not, if you enjoy rock music, you’ll love this show.
This was the 10 year anniversary show for A Band In Hope. The Matches always put on the most energetic and extraordinarily amazing shows. 10/10 if you haven't seen them, you're insane.
The Matches are touring their last album "A Band In Hope" this summer. The concert in NYC at The Gramercy Theater was better than I thought it would be and I highly recommend seeing The Matches live before its too late.
This was my first concert in years and it did not disappoint. The venue was great and The Matches were amazing.
Prior to this I had never seen The Matches as they split quite some time ago. Having finally seen them it's as if they never broke up. Their performance was full of energy and they played the album flawlessly. The small setting allowed for surprisingly intimate banter between the band and the crowd. The show was incredible and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
It's been 9 years since I last saw the Matches at Warped Tour and I guess I forgot how much fun they are. This show completely exceeded my expectations and left me feeling sad when it was over. 3 days later and I'm still thinking about it, wishing I could see them again soon! The crowd was really energetic and fun (despite some people being a little too aggressive). The staff at Irving Plaza was efficient and polite. Location of the venue was really convenient for me, and I enjoyed the fairly small and intimate setting. Really looking forward to seeing the Matches again, hopefully in the very NEAR future!!! PLEASE COME BACK TO NYC SOON.
Shawn and Jon and Matt and guitarist (Name?) outdid themselves. Never sounded better! I want more!
Greatest day of my life, The Matches are the best ever. They're nice guys, there isn't a better band on the planet.
