by SmoothJazzCruiser on 7/25/11Birchmere - AlexandriaFrom smooth jazz to smooth funk, these consummate "Gentlemen Of The Night" put on quite a show!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Fun show
by DrdB1951 on 7/24/11Birchmere - AlexandriaIt is obvious that the three sax players have a positive chemistry, enjoy playing together, and want the audience to enjoy the music with them. The band (guitar, keyboard, drums, and bass) was exceptional and they had a good time. The sax players each played a few songs from their individual repertoire and they played songs like Pick Up the Pieces together. My only not positive comments about the show, are; (1) it was loud (maybe a factor of my being more sensitive to loud live sound) and (2) I wish they had played longer, more songs individually and together. In the end, a great show, wonderful music, great venue, tremendous evening.

by purplemermaid on 7/24/11Birchmere - AlexandriaThe concert was amazing! I had never seen Paul Taylor perform, he was wonderful! The main reason I went was to see Warren Hill, whom I discovered in 2003. The best part was after the show when the entertainers signed autographs and allowed pictures. Got to speak to all three, and got my picture taken with Warren. I will cherish it forever! His two "Love Songs" CDs are the best! The Birchmere is an awesome venue, as it is small, not formal, and the entertainers I've seen there over the years seem to enjoy the small crowd that allows them to personally interact with the audience both during and after shows. If Warren Hill comes anywhere near Virginia, I am sure to be there!

by Soar53 on 7/23/11Birchmere - AlexandriaMarion, Paul and Warren out did themselves. The night was a constant flow music and excitement! I tried to buy tickets to their next venue and it's already sold out. My only complaint would the first come seating. I prefer the option of advanced seating

by Cincopater on 7/23/11Birchmere - AlexandriaGreat music! The three sax players each had a special verve. Warren Hill is the best. Young bass player was off the hook good. Service at the Birchmere isn't tops but the food is good, abundant, and a bit pricey.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Awesome Performance but Too Short!
by JazzyLiving on 7/23/11Birchmere - AlexandriaThis was an awesome show. Lots of energy from all three and I particularly enjoyed Paul Taylor and Warren Hill. But, they were done in an hour and a quarter. I attend a lot of shows at the Birchmere and this was the first show I was in my car by 9 (start was 7:30). All three opened the show, two pieces, Paul Taylor then did three of his hits, Warren Hill did three oldies of his ( incredible BTW) and Marion Meadows came out for two tracks. They were done, except for the usually staged "curtain call" which consisted of a couple of numbers including the obligatory opportunity for their band musicians to show their stuff. Their drummer, lead guitar and bass player each got what amounted to a solo. Nice but I paid to hear the big three. It was a great show but I expected more. Funny because when the show started with a raucous greeting from the usually enthusiastic Birchmere audience, Meadows remarked that they were so stoked they were going to play all night. Ironic!
