THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, winner of five 2015 Tony Awards® including BEST PLAY, is coming to Chicago!
Hailed as “One of the most fully immersive works ever to wallop Broadway” by The New York Times, this "dazzling" (Associated Press) adaptation is the Tony Award®-winning new play by Simon Stephens, adapted from Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel and directed by Tony winner Marianne Elliott.
Fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor’s dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery and a journey that will change his life forever.
The acting, the technical wizardry and the message: phenomenal!!!!
Well played parts for a challenging script. Very creatively staged. Background sound was occasionally painfully loud.
Amazing staging and a different perspective make this play a must see. The star of the show gave us a glimpse of life inside the mind of a young man who is a math savant but who has serious a serious social disorder. So glad that we went! Very different and thought provoking.
I bought tickets for my boyfriend as a Christmas present. He loved it and we both had a great time!
All I could think when I walked into the theater with the disturbing opening set visible on stage is that "I hope there's a purpose for this". There was. This is a fascinating glimpse into the world of young Christopher with all of his special abilities and fears..
This was a very unique and wonderful play. I urge everyone to see it.
The lead actor did a great job with a strange play. Sitting around me, 4 people left at the intermission. I could not recomment this to others.
set and staging was amazing and lead performance equally good- interesting and unusual- got a bit lengthy but worth it!
I saw the New York production in which Alex Sharp played the lead. It blew us away. The Chicago version is fine but neither the set nor the lead is as good and it effects the outcome. My 20 yo son gave it a C minus and my friend fell asleep and we were in the first row. It is a brilliant play but execution lacking. If you are not in the first few rows it will effect your enjoyment. There were many young children. Be aware there a moderate amount of cursing.
What a phenomenal show! I wasn't sure I was going to make it because of the weather (I live 3 hours away), but was so glad I did! The production was so different than any show I've seen. I can't wait to see it again!
I had read this book many years ago. I had no idea how this would work out in the theater. It was very helpful to have read the book ahead of time. There were some scenes that had very loud noise and lights. This really enhanced how a person with this disability sees the world. The acting was dead on to match the characters. For a non-musical play this was excellent.
This show was a very unique performance, different from anything else I have ever seen. The story basically is told from inside the mind of a intelligent savant who has major troubles coping in the real world. We therefore see the world through his eyes and through his feelings. Very moving.
"The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-Time" is a great show! I will admit that it is long and does drag during the majority of act 1. However, the way in which the stage and technology are used throughout the show makes the experience that much more special.
There are few times in life, when art can make you change the way you think. This is one of them. Watching this show from the perspective of an autistic boy and his family, gave me more compassion, empathy, and understanding for those that live on the austistic spectrum. Highly recommend this show.
This was a amazingly creative interpretation of the book, which was followed very closely. Adam Langdon's performance was brilliantly energetic.
I found this very energetic and I enjoyed the creative set.
I thoroughly enjoyed this play! The choreography was spectacular and the set and staging was creative and really amazing!
This show is so well done. Can't think of anyone who wouldn't enjoy it. Such a welcome change from a musical!
Enjoyed all aspects of the show: story, acting and set
The newspaper article about this play made it seem interesting, even though it deals to some extent with math and I'm no genius at math. I took a chance and went to see it. Big mistake. I found myself daydreaming at times out of sheer boredom. There were some clever effects, but nothing worth making the play worthwhile for me. I should have left at intermission. Instead, I decided to stay and then regretted it. A waste of time for me.
