I took my 5 1/2 year old to his first show at the civic center and we both had a great time! The activities before the show were perfect. At the beginning of the show he kept asking when the actors were coming out--I guess he wasn't thrilled with the music lesson from the orchestra...but once the actors hit the stage he was captivated by the story from beginning to end. Great show all the way around!
My boyfriend's daughter (age 8) & I attended this show. The music was excellent, & it was fun to see the creative ways the performers represented the story without words. My boyfriend's daughter really enjoyed the "discovery party" before the show, during which she was able to try instruments the symphony was using, make crafts, see birds from our local zoo, & listen to a local band perform. Before the main show started, the conductor & artistic director were speaking about different styles of music within the show. I thought this got a little long, especially for those with little children attending. Overall, it was a fun show for both kids & adults, which can be hard to come by.
The show was great. It started of slow and steady but the end was GRAND. I totally fell in love with the end. It was so amazing that a lot of people there stood up and clapped for the orchestra. The show was one of the best.
It was a good concert with good pieces. would like to see more programs of 20th century music and new music.
