    Music and Skits Were Fantastic

by MonteMontague on 2/10/14UTEP Dinner Theatre - El Paso

Not knowing what to expect, the performance blew my wife and me away. All the music was great and performed to perfection. The skits that were created for each song added an added pleasure to the performance. All the singers were fantastic. This is a performance that I truly can say is ranked among the top of those that I have attended. Since there have been extra dates added it appears that many others feel as I do.

I loved the intimate setting at the Royal George Theater. It allowed the cast to perform amongst the audience. The cast is very talented. We thoroughly enjoyed the show!

    Pick the right seating

by Anonymous on 7/3/13Cain Park - Cleveland Heights

I enjoyed the show although I would not recommend it for the family or children under 16. The performers were wonderful but the music was too loud and where we were seated(far left) we could not hear the singers. I am sure the people in the center enjoyed a wonderful show.

    High energy fun

by NotYoda on 7/3/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Smokey Joe's Cafe is a fun revue of the music of Stoller and Lieber, a pair of relatively unknown American legends. They wrote many memorable and well known songs of the '60s, '70s and '80s and SJC runs through many of them in a fun and enjoyable manner. The cast of the production is excellent, with a great deal of talent on the stage. The small, intimate theater makes it even more fun, as the audience and the performers are all close together and a part of the show. I am sure that in the next few years, we will be seeing many of the performers in this production on larger stages and in front of bigger audiences. The only caveat was that the audience at the Sunday matinee we attended was skewed toward the geriatric. I am sure that an evening performance would have an even higher energy feel with a more active audience.

    Smokey Joe's Cafe was sensational!

by Jillfrei on 7/2/13Cain Park - Cleveland Heights

What an outstanding group of performers. I left feeling like the little kid on the A t & t commercial. "... More, I want more! . . . "I was so impressed with not only the choreography but with the adults keeping up with the BW sophmores! Great voices, great energy and a truly professional production!

    Smokey Joe's a high-energy wonder

by Anonymous on 7/1/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

What a great show. The cast is fantastic, the energy level is great, and there is a playful sense throughout. I was impressed at how tight the choreography was. They made great use of a small space, and there was an ease with which the cast did their expert work, which made me feel right at home. The singing was of a very high quality. A few singers didn't have quite the super chops as the rest, but this did not detract much. Sydney and Vasily were the top of the group vocally and in terms of their delivery. You will not be disappointed, and you'll go out with a big smile.

It was just ok. I was bored after the first few numbers. And would have left after intermission , but there were a couple of cute numbers that made us decide to stay . There was no real story, just groups of rock& roll & or love songs grouped together . Ok. If u have nothing else to do.

An excellent, fun show! If you like early rock 'n roll of the Drifters, Coasters, Elvis, et al, don't miss this. The cast is young, enthusiastic and very talented.

    Must Must Go!!

by Anonymous on 6/17/13Royal George Theatre - Chicago

I have three words to say about Smokey Joe's Café; wow, Wow, and WOW! What an amazing performance by an amazing cast! The experience was outstanding from the first song to the last. Although the cast was very diverse, they had one thing in common; TALENT! It's so enjoyable when a cast can blow you away with both their singing and dancing. I loved the quaint environment of the theater, and you really felt ike you were part of the show. The actors were able to draw you in with wonderful acting and moving performances of each song. They related wonderfully to each other, and you could feel the energy through out the theater. I couldn't wait to jump to my feet at the end to applaud such a wonderful effort.

I was disappointed. The performances were weak. There wasn't one individual performance that would cause me to stand up and cheer. A professional performance should be at least as good as those presented on "The Voice" or "American Idol." A better cast was needed to promote these great songs from the 50's.
