About

SKADANKS IN CONCERT:

New York City dancehall veterans Skadanks have returned to the stage after almost a decade, treating concertgoers to feel-good live shows that prove they've lost none of their magic. The group boasts drummer Cliff "Q-liff" Simpson's infectious island beats, bassist Alex "V" Valenti's smooth grooves, keyboardist Ricky "T" Tepperberg's creative fills, and guitarist Joe "JJ" Sansaverino's lively riffs. In concert they're often backed by an energetic horn section, treating fans to deeply satisfying performances that radiate calming island vibes and Jamaican swagger. Even though original frontman Rocker-T left to pursue a solo career, the band now features rotatinmg vocalists, making their performances thrillingly unpredictable but reliably excellent.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Jamaican reggae collective Skadanks formed in New York City in the late ‘80s. Their rousing fusion of rock, hip hop, funk, and reggae attracted a strong local following, and by 1989 they'd become an underground phenomenon in the city’s pulsating dancehall scene. Their weekly Sunday night performances at the now-defunct club Lion’s Den attracted artists from Shineheat to Shaggy, who joined the band onstage for their epic jam sessions. They inked a deal with Elektra Records in 1991 and released the upbeat single “Whole World African”. In 1994 they released their critically acclaimed debut album Give Thanx and set out on an extensive world tour. The group parted ways in 1996 to pursue their own solo projects but returned to the stage in 2014, wowing fans both new and old with their vibrant energy and groove-heavy performances.
