A nice event at MSG despite a blowout game

by FMI on 1/14/20Madison Square Garden - New York

Kudos to the Madison Square Garden (MSG) team for hosting a nice Rivalry on Ice game featuring Yale and Harvard Men’s Ice Hockey. Yale lost 7-0 to a nationally ranked Harvard team but the pomp and circumstance of Ivy sports was evident. One thing lacking versus the last game of 5 years ago was merchandise - there wasn’t any at all (except an expensive watch set advertised during the game). All in all a good job despite the blowout score.

    School spirit and close-up hockey

by David C on 1/14/20Madison Square Garden - New York

Low attendance meant the upper sections were closed, and as we went up the escalators an usher stopped us and issued new tickets. It took a whike to find 6 together (an isher had to go to another Tower) and we only retained an aisle seat by luck. I suppose 9 rows behind the goal is better than mid-ice high up and in the middle of the section. We were near the Yale band, and I don't know if there was a Harvard section. It makes sense that fewer people would come down from Boston. Lots of Yalies all around us, including someone behind us who spilled his beer, soiling my jacket and sweatshirt that were under my seat. I suspect that the disappointing attendance means this may not repeat next year, but there's always the Whale and the Beanpot. In any case it's always good to show school spirit in the greatest hockey arena.

    Disappointing

by D. on 1/14/20Madison Square Garden - New York

I was really looking forward to this game and bought tickets when they first went on sale. I intentionally chose the second tier, so that we could be in the front row. When we arrived at MSG, we were informed that we were being relocated to the first floor. This sounded great, but our new seats did not offer a good view. The very friendly usher referred us to guest services, where we were treated extremely rudely and told to send an email. My daughter went back upstairs to the man who originally gave us the lower level tickets and he did his best to find tickets that were a little better. Overall the experience just wasn't a good one. We should never have been sold tickets and then not allowed to sit in the seats we purchased, and we were treated better by everyone in the building than the woman in guest services. So disappointing.

    Fun for the whole family

by Crimson fan on 1/14/20Madison Square Garden - New York

What fun to see these teams playing in the Garden! Made it easy for alumni of both schools in the NY area to bring our whole families. I hope they do this again.

    Rivalry on Ice

by Anonymous on 1/17/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Great hockey! Haven't been to the Garden since the renovations; well done. Also, my husband & I recently attended an Andrea Bocelli concert at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The Wells Fargo Center was a pig sty and there had not been a prior event that day. The Garden did a great job of cleaning up after the Rangers/Caps game earlier the day of the QU/Harvard ... Army/Navy games. Also all the Garden staff were so friendly and helpful. Kudos to them.

    Great night of college hockey!

by dziura on 1/14/16Madison Square Garden - New York

This was our second year to attend the Rivalry on Ice. It was a fun evening of college hockey and I would recommend it to hockey fans. I do have 2 complaints with this years game - 1. The double header made for a long night and I'm not too sure how many people stayed through 2 games but that was a little much. 2. Maybe because it was a double header this year but I thought that the ticket prices were too high. The good seats were $300 a piece. Take family of 4 plus a friend or two for my sons birthday and you have just spent $1,500 for a college hockey game. REALLY? MSG was far from sold out so I would suggest lowering the ticket prices and get more people (especially college students who don't have any money anyways) into the arena to have a great night.

    QU Bobcats Amazing Hockey Team!

by Vaniamay on 1/12/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Although our seats were in the rafters the screens and our ability to see on ice action was great. The crowd was respectful and fun.

    Great evening of college hockey

by Worldox on 1/12/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Exciting game right down to the wire. Only issue was they allow people in isles during play which frequently blocked your view. Usher should stop people until play is stopped like at most events.
