    Avante-garde?

by Ruthy888 on 1/28/15OSU Thurber Theatre Drake Union - Columbus

I'm not sure what avante-garde theater is. I'm sure sure what this play was either. But I will not forget the awkward sex scene with the demented lady and the naked butt!

    boring and self-indulgent

by dramaqueen55 on 1/27/15OSU Thurber Theatre Drake Union - Columbus

The actors were good but in service of what. For all its arty pretensions, it was a badly constructed realistic play about a marital infidelity. Then there is a goofy opera dumbshow, then there is a striking design effect. Then mercifully, it ends. It offered a predictable checklist of downtown cool: mid-century modern furniture, myth, no intermission, affectless acting. And it was oddly sexist in that so much of the show seemed to be about Isolde in high heels showcasing the cantilever action of her body. And classist in that everybody laughed when the stocky construction worker incongruously appears.
