Poi Dog Pondering came to Austin for 2 nights of fun & music. They didn’t disappoint! The light show was excellent, the music even better! I can’t wait until they return.
After all these years, Poi Dog has a great new album. But admit it, we all love the old stuff. Getting better with age.
Beautiful venue, not too big and everyone very friendly and obviously into the music. My first-time seeing PDP and the 18-piece band was more than great. Such performers, happy people, great vocals and entertainment. The band played for 2 hours and had 2 encores. Beautiful music.
I've seen Poi Dog at many different venues and the stage at Thalia Hall was just right for their large, diverse band of singers and instruments. Can't get enough of this upbeat, talented group of musicians!

Poi Dog Pondering was a great band in Austin a couple decades ago before relocating to Chicago, and it is great that they are still in the biz and willing to tour. Love seeing them in town each year, playing old songs and introducing us to new numbers, with Bruce Hughes on bass, and often with Abra Moore in the band. She was missing this year, but it is a year out of time after all. Primo the Alien put on an admirable show to open, although her band was short-handed. She showed great talent, determination, and spirit.
Staff was friendly, bartender well versed, and the BAND was seamless. Each member is so talented!!
If you have never seen Poi dog Pondering life, you are missing out. They are a family and so are their fans. They bring so much joy and beautiful music to every show, you may become a groupie and follow them everywhere they play. Deep, deep catalogue and phenomenal covers.
Everybody in the place was moving or outright dancing. Ages in the audience covered a wide range. Great shows by NightGlitter (with bizarre and entertaining video in the background), Abra Moore, and, of course, Poi Dog!!!!!!
