FROM KISS ALIVE II TO SOUL STATION REVIEW
by JEFFSHADOW on 3/31/16The Rose - PasadenaMy first concert was KISS with Cheap Trick on August 24, 1977. From that night on I have been a dedicated KISS fan (even a member of the Kiss Army!)... I had been reminiscing about Eric Carr who had passed in 1991 and decided to look for a new KISS tour. I found Paul Stanley's Soul Station and bought tickets for the event at The Rose in Pasadena with no hesitation. I feel that the Coach House is too crowded and I would not be able to make it to the Canyon Club with my work schedule.I had missed the Paul Stanley tour in 1989 and had regretted that for 26 years! The Yelp reviews about The Rose were rather startling and I was very concerned about my rapid investment in a show without learning more about the venue first. Everything worked out just fine; yes, there were paper plates and the service was somewhat haphazard but the dinner was fantastic. They even had Pabst Blue Ribbon beer! To miss a show like this would have been devastating. The service staff was still learning the routine, yet the level of care was admirable. The concert (Paul without a guitar ?!?) was fabulous, entertaining and worth every dollar. My wife loved the show. I often surprise her with concerts, plays and other events (TOTO, Rain, plays at the Globe Theatre in San Diego, Halestorm in Minneapolis and much more). I wished I could have located my "I WAS THERE" badge from the Forum in 1977 and shown it to Paul. Hey, almost forty years now following the Hottest Band in the World ---KISS!!!
