A performance that demonstrated fine musicianship as well as technical mastery. Khozyainov displayed fabulous control of color and a very broad range. Undoubtedly a potential giant of the new generation of concert pianists.
At 22 years of age, Nikolay Khozyainov is an amazing pianist. He played a variety of classical selections by Chopin, List, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Ravel and Rachmaninoff. He definitely captured the hearts of the audience as they gave him a standing ovation after each encore. It was a very enjoyable performance!
This 23 year old virtuoso was a pleasure to listen to and to watch. "Watch" because the keyboard and his playing was projected on a large screen above the piano at the back of the stage. His playing was superb and his love of playing was obvious in the multiple encores he treated us to. As part of the performance, music professor and historian Dr. Frank Cooper discussed the pieces. He was, as always, charming and informative.
