NCBA needs help
by Boxing206 on 4/10/16Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion - SeattleWent to the two of the three nights of the championships and the fighters, coaches, officials and medical staff were great. We were happy with everything we saw in the ring(s). However, outside of the ring, the event needs serious help. First, the arena was empty. I don't think the Association did any marketing or promotions for this event, at all. I talked to two local gym owners, and they only found out about the event through third-parties. The NCBA didn't reach out to the boxing community?! The official website and FB pages had almost no information, so it was difficult to find the most basic info like, what schools are competing, what time it started, etc. These athletes deserve more. This event was a perfect opportunity to promote the sport, and drum up support for the athletes, and neither happened. There wasn't even any info at the arena itself! Both nights, I had to get a bout card from the kids working the merch table. There weren't any available, For a championship event, I expected more from the organizers. Again, the boxers were great, it's just too bad they had to compete in an almost empty arena.
